Dagda: Yesssss my godslayer. Kill every God and demon out there so I can finally sexually identify as wind and rain.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. It beats being a meatbag.
Beats being in Inaba with shitty friends.
Watch SymphogearHuh now that I think about it, if you remake 4 you can possibly remake it into sort of mini open-world.
Since Inaba is a small-town you can prolly make a hub-zone with lots of little interconnected areas.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."A Ryu Ga Gotoku styled city hub would be great for a Persona 6 if they go for it during Daily Life (Atlus's staff are major fans).
Watch SymphogearBit of a debate about which is better between Reach Out For The Truth or Time To Make History but given the former plays when you get back attacks...it kinda has a huge advantage. Back Attacks are a lifesaver.
That's something P3 and 4 have totally in common. Getting that initial strike on enemies is a lifesaver on harder difficulties and can make a fight a breeze compared to the much harder struggle it would have been normally.
TL;DR You always wanna hear Reach Out For The Truth.

Actually, T Ime to Make History is the back attack song.
Reach out for the Truth is non advantage in Golden.
Watch SymphogearWow, really? My memory has failed me utterly in this regard. I really need to get money and buy the PC version to play it. One more week....
Anyway, my bad, disregard everything I just said. Or flip it around, I guess.
EDIT:
Wait no, the wiki says I was remembering right:
"It is also played when the player achieves a Player Advantage in Persona 4 Golden, but does not serve as the normal battle theme." https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Reach_Out_To_The_Truth

yeah, demongod is in the wrong here, time to make history is the one for normal battle, not ambushes.
The problem is that I hate reach out to the truth from the bottom of my heart and I'd rather not have to hear it one more time. Fortunately, now that I'm past the first dungeon, I can break the game hard enough over it's back that I can afford not to bother with sneak attacks.

"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."Mass Destruction remains the best normal battle theme in any Persona, IMO. It could be because it was my first and that I think does a wonderful job of establishing Persona' rather unique identity and aesthetic. Been playing JRPG's my whole life, never encountered anything quite like Persona, even those SMT games that birthed them.
Other than that haven't really been wowed by any of the normal battle themes in Persona. Some great, great boss music but regular battle themes? Meh.
I would put Last Surprise over Mass Destruction, personally. They're both great themes, but P5's acid jazz just meshes so well with the phantom thief aesthetic. P3's hip-hop is good too, but always felt a little disconnected, aesthetically speaking, from SEES and Tartarus.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Eh, you're short selling take over here. Not too surprising considering you're not big on 5, but take over pretty much sums up the entire game by itself. Both the music for really selling the mood and the lyrics for being the summation of the entire game. "nothing's gonna be the way you might like ! It was over when you started with us ! you should have thought twice, walked on thin ice, but game's over !" is still one of my favorite lines of persona songs.
If I had to rank battle themes it probably go like this
-take over - for the reasons I just gave.
-Mass destruction. Although it's partly up there because of all the variations it got over the years (the reincarnation remix and the konishi remix especially) but it still carries all of the normal battles by itself.
-Time to make history -I'd like it better it they used the dancing all night version and it's second verse but we wouldn't hear it in gameplay anyway
-Wiping all out - it's good, but I never played femc so I don't have much emotionnal attachment to it
-Last surprise - It works better in game than when listening to it outside of the game but it's still mostly just fine and all other themes set the bar higher.
-Reach out to the truth - I hate it, man what can I say

"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."I've never played P 3 P but my favorite is Wiping All Out.
I'll have to disagree about Reach out to the Truth. I liked it better than Mass Destruction, though I'm not sure if I like Reach out... or Last Surprise more. And I think Light the Fire up in the Night was better than any of the regular battle themes from the main games.
Of course, if we're talking about non-standard battle themes, then Heartful Cry beats all of them.

Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Mass Destruction is the best normal battle theme, I'll Face Myself is the best normal boss theme, and Rivers in the Desert is the best special boss theme. I'm glad they're all in Smash Bros Ultimate for easy listening pleasure.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Take Over definitely rivals Mass Destruction, while Last Surprise is right under them. P5's battle themes are really good.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.ehh. I hate what they did to I'll face myself for the smash version, personally. But gotta agree on the rest of the idea. Blooming villain, master of shadows and danger zone are great but I'll face myself has them beat.
Although, for "special boss battle", what do we include in the competition ? I'm assuming we're ruling out final bosses themes, but things like heartful cry could give it a run for it's money. Willpower is also a great one from 5.

"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."If we talking special boss themes, KNIGHTS OF THE HOLY LANCE BABY
In my opinion, if it's not the usual boss battle theme, it counts. Also, if we're counting Smash music, the Smash version of the Velvet Room theme is by far the best DLC song to date.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.P3 doesn't really have a normal or special boss theme since it has like 2 or 3 different sets of bosses you keep encountering over and over again. I guess there's the boss theme for...the three goobers nobody cares about.
But Master of Shadows is the best fuckin' boss theme. I love it so much and if it counts as a normal boss theme, it's the best.
Knight of the Holy Lance is very good but I'd take Marie's version of I'll Face Myself or "Shin Mitsuo Tensei" as my all time favorite special boss theme.
Edited by Nikkolas on Jun 29th 2020 at 4:34:33 AM
Isn't Marie's version of "I'll Face Myself" just the Reincarnation version?
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yes but that's an album not a game so it's just her version as far as the games boss themes are concerned. I played Golden before I knew Reincarnation even existed.
Edited by Nikkolas on Jun 29th 2020 at 4:37:10 AM
didn't knew about knights of the holy spear but that's a banger, thanks for the suggestion.
So, from persona 3, there's things like unavoidable battle, the theme of strega, and heartful cry, aigis's battle theme.
P 3 D has a kickass version of heartful cry, for that matter, but yeahhh, rivers in the desert I still like more. P4 has the almighty, Shin mitsuo tensi which is just I'll face myself again but slightly worse and adachi's battle theme... yeah, not my favorites either...
P5 has keeper of lust, which is just cool, and willpower, which rivals rivers. And of course, rivers itself.
I don't really wanna process final boss themes because aside from The genesis, I think they're all great and all match really well to their respective fights and I don't really know how I rank things like Throw away your mask compared to The Fog or battle hymn of the soul, buuuuut if I had to pick one only, I guess I'd run with Darkness, Erebus's theme.
Edit : Oh, didn't knew I'll face myself reincarnation exists somewhere in P 4 G. Still like the original better, though.
Edited by Yumil on Jun 29th 2020 at 1:41:33 PM
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."Yea, but that theme has existed long before Marie even came out. It was first used in the Anime in fact when they fought Shadow Mitsuo.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
Persona 5 Royal does that with Kasumi/Cendrillon and Akechi on his Rank 8 so it's a step in that direction.
