Oh so it turns out that I was completely fucking wrong and the FEMC in 3 has the most popular het pairings. The power of an Otome protagonist is strong.
Interestingly, Akihiko and Shinji are the most popular overall pairing.
It actually has the most entries on Ao 3....All three modern Persona games' most popular pairings on Yaoi...

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Makoto being popular, as far as I'm concerned, comes entirely from her awakening sequence.
Everyone else had the decency to at least look like they were in agonizing pain. This is is just like get the fuck on with it already! I want to kill!
Stomps a hole in the floor, then stomps some mud-holes in punks until it's bone dry. That's how you get a Persona.
One Strip! One Strip!Persona 4 is the only one of 3-5 that I have solid ships for the whole party.
With said ships being: Yu/Rise, Chie/Yukiko, Teddy/Yosuke and Kanji/Naoto.
The only other ship I kind of have is in P5 which is Ryuji/Ann/Shiho because of a fic I read once that I really liked.
Other that that I don't really have any strong preference for the P3/P5 ships.

@Yumill I think you hit close to problem with the Shadows in Persona 4, and with it some of the structural issues I feel persona 4 has.
See, while I personally have more feelings about P4 (both good and bad), I'd say Persona 3 is actually a structurally stronger game because it doesn't bother with character shadows. It lets every character have at least some degree of an arc over the story, and you basically have the entire roster (minus Shinjiro) by the 1/3 point of the game.
meanwhile, Like you said, the shadow and dungeon per for everyone stretches the cast out so Naoto doesn't fully join the party until around the 2/3s point. Admittedly, they try to mitigate that, what with Naoto show up constantly in the mid section being mysterious, but like everyone else, you don't really get to learn about them till its shadow time.
And with nearly every shadow being a bait and switch of the dungeon's themeing vs the characters issues, the dungeon itself and the character's accepting their shadow is at best a slightly muddled introduction to the character, not an Arc. and once they join the IT, any set up for an arc gets tossed into the Social link, which because it can't change the main events of the story, means no one can drastically change for the better like say, Junpei did in P3.
then there is also the whole problem I feel with the bait and switch in general for the shadows. the First 3 dungeon's are all sexually charged, when per the author's intent, none of the character's "real" issues are connected to sexuality at all, and Kanji especially having to reach ass backwards to connect his dungeon's themes to his issues while still going no-homo about it.
And to connect it back to readings of Persona 4 that run counter to the authors intent, is that the original Persona 4, whether the author intended it or not, went to some pretty queer places, and as such, attracted a certain audience who like it for that. It is in part because of that there was as much a stink about Persona 5's (lack of) lgbt content.

Not just fujoshi. Again, Persona has a queer audience, and they are starved for actual content.
As for ships, the only P3 ship I remember having were Yukari/Mitsuru.
P4 is Yu/Yosuke all the way, with Chie/Yukiko and Kanji/Naoto also being sweet.

I forgot my password, and I want my old Forum handle back!!!I know Fe MC/Shinjiro is very strong. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Ren/Akechi might be the most popular ship of all persona series.
Sadly I am very much not into those. =/
I'm more Ren/Ryuji. For P4, maybe Yu/Yosuke when it's well writen but mostly Kanji/Naoto. P3, I am not into anything.

Meaning?
And here is also hoping You'll be able to date him this time (though personally I prefer the Yosuke/Ryuji character)

Hope is maybe not the best wording them. what's a good word for "resigned but wanting, despite knowing its extremely unlikely"?

I forgot my password, and I want my old Forum handle back!!!Atlus has had plenty of opportunities to listen to what LGBT+ players of their content might want over the last few years and they've basically completely ignored them. This isn't even exclusive to western players either since there was a fair amount of criticism from the japanese LGBT community about Catherine and their portrayal of Erica even before Full Body came out.
So yeah, I sadly wouldn't get my hopes up for anything except maybe less overt queerphobia in their next games depending on who's on the projects.

P3 would be the one of modern persona who would rely the less on S-links because as a result of the guys not having one, their arcs are integrated into the story. That's in no small part a reason why their characters work better in some way than their successors who have their development in a social link and as a result don't really get to show it in the main story, so I can see why.
@Jetyl : how about "wish" ?
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."

There's a lot of Yosuke/Chie and Yukiko/Chie in P4. A poly relationship with the OG four of the Investigation Team is very possible.
