You joke, but that would legitimately be an improvement. Instead of the game tacitly approving of Yosuke's shittiness by never calling him on it, let the player call them out and make it clear that he's being a dick. If he keeps doing it for the whole game it still wouldn't be great, but at least it'd be something.
I don't know how the actual scene goes down, for that matter, but I liked the way the setup is handled. Chie claims she could totes cook just fine, which Yosuke seriously doubts despite admitting he himself suck at it and jokes that chie could be even worse at it. So at least at first, he doesn't assume Chie knows to cook specifically because she's a girl, and the scene made it smooth enough to come off as playful banter rather than outright insults like other scenes do.
I kinda hope how bad the payoff to that scene is overblown because the setup wasn't nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.
Also yeah, the natural dynamic to tolerate a friend's bad side is to be allowed to call it out. Otherwise, that's just enabling bigotry.

The arguments for P3's supposed superiority is all based on how SEES aren't friends, how they are a team of cliques who are friends with the other persons in that clique but otherwise aren't very close.
It has none of the concentrated "these people are your family" of P4 or P5. And some people prefer it that way.

You've always had this determined anti-Yosuke bias and blindness to the girls' faults in this game.
Firstly, the game starts with Chie kicking Yosuke in the nuts for breaking her DVD, even after he offered to pay for it. So we've got unprovoked physical assault to a pretty densitive part of the body. A hit in the testicles is like going after somebody's eyes.
Now, when it comes to the girls' cooking, they actively refuse to follow instructions. Nobody forced them to do this. They willfully make food they know is no good and maybe even dangerous given how Yu faints from a taste.
So the girls have now attacked Yosuke and poisoned him.

Yes, p3 has a different group dynamic from p4. Here's the thing : it's still exactly the same emotionnal appeal as p4, because it's a matter of what one values more. people who find the p3 dynamic more true to their life are always going to be drawn to it more than 4 and vice versa.
That's the same reason you'll never see me like the nanako and dojima dynamic because I liked Sojiro letting me do my thing alone and not have to actually live with him. I don't hold the "living together" part of a family at it's core appeal.
also, there's a problem with the fundamental affirmation that you either love 4 as much as you do or the game doesn't click at all. There's room for liking it, a lot even, and still thinking it does things that matter to you poorly enough that you simply like the others more. Only a few people here want to prop up one of the three games at the expense of the others and you don't need to do that to convey how much you like 4.

"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."Oh no Raj is pretty terrible but ya know Howard hacks into databases to spy on women & Sheldon always makes it a point to bring in gender in whenever he’s belitling a woman.
Even when called in on discrimination in the workplace, Sheldon couldn’t not insult the woman who can pretty much fire him for being a sexist twit.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Most of what I caught of that shows paints Sheldon as The Friend Nobody Likes, so how much does he count towards this?
Finished Royal last night. It's too bad we don't get goodbye presents from Maruki and Yoshizawa, but on the last day we do get to see characters that only appear in confidants.
What was the deal with the father in the new area? He's talking with his son about how they'll make more time for each other, and he turns around and thanks Ren. How did I help him?
And I like the vanilla ending more than the royal ending, aside from the possibility of Akechi being alive.
Has anyone written a fanfic of Ren/Akira trying to snap the confidants out of their Marukiland delusions? It would be interesting to see the ideal realities of all of them. Maybe even the other palace owners! Sae, Futaba, Madarame, and Okumura appear, but what about Kaneshiro and Kamoshida? And if everyone is supposed to be happy, why is Shido still disgraced?
I for one hated Junpei in vanilla P3, he was just so bad and barely got any development that wasn't connected to Chidori. P 3 P though made me actually love him, the one true Bro of the Persona franchise. A good S-link does WONDERS.
Honestly over all I just ended up being neutral to Yosuke, the campout was the low point but he got better over the course of the game with his slink, dungeon convos, and especially in Golden.
And Ryuji was annoying constantly and never got better especially with Morgana and the Yusuke arc. His only good moment was the scene with Ann at the gym, which was out of character for him.

The problem with Yosukes shittiness is that its a mouthpiece for the player, and they're very clear this is the case in the game.
So it reflects as much on him(Yu) as it would on Yosuke. Even worse in some regards because he actually can flirt with men and cause existential crisis in them while agreeing with Yosuke in how EW GAY Kanji is.
This is a problem neither 3 nor 5 suffer from because the wingman isn't a mouthpiece for Y(o)u. Its why Im more unforgiving to Chie because she isn't a mouthpiece for the player, so all of her shittiness is entirely her.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Ryuji's thing was that he clearly let the fame get to his head. It's a bit like Mishima in a way.
I don't mind because on 10/27 he does call the MC and realised that he's been an idiot all this time and let the popularity get to him. He appologizes and you can tell him it's not too late. I like that.
The Ann at the gym thing is not out of character for him because he doesn't end up getting tricked into doing stuff for girls when they obvious pull the sexy card on him. That and he teases Ann a lot when it's to her face.
Ryuji is also quick to tell people who blame themselves that it's not their fault. Which is probably why he doesn't like to take the blame or accept the blame to be put on him. It's a bad trait but consistent with a good trait.
He is a flawed character whose flaws are not "look how quirky I am" and that's something I enjoy a lot. Specially when everyone else is so frustratingly perfect.
His beef with Morgana irks me for personal reasons because I had a Morgana that kept insulting my weight back in high school and I endured it to try not to bring down the mood with my group of friends. But after I lost weight I ended up making a similar remark to the person and she went full Wounded Gazelle Gambit me. I was forced to apologize too and that sucked. I think Ryuji did take it too far with the useless talk and I wish his apology wasn't half assed but I can't hate him for that.
The Third Semester in Royal really helps flesh everyone out a lot more then in Vanilla, and for the better.

Hey if ya wanna make the friendships more realistic give me the option to dope-slap Yosuke when he does something stupid.
Cause a real friend would go “Dude WTF” whenever he does something dumb.
