Lead character bites it, time to start over
Some of the later games did away with that. Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse didn't have that mechanic, and neither did Strange Journey Redux.
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."The problem is that there's generally no reason why revival items/magic shouldn't work at that point. Like yeah if the protagonist actually dies then the game becomes unwinnable, but we're not talking about a plotline death here. We're talking about hitting zero HP in battle. Shove a revival bead down his throat and get him back to work.
At least P5 lets you get abilities for other characters to take would-be lethal hits for you, which takes most of the sting out of We Cannot Go On Without You

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.I don't mind We Cannot Go On Without You in Persona because it's a great tool for difficulty relative to how powerful the main character can get in these games.
Considering Persona 5 Scramble has its first full fledged older adult Persona user since the days of 2, do you think that Atlus is testing the waters for that to be a thing for P6?
Watch SymphogearWe could see it happen.
Though technically, we had Adachi in Ultimax years before Zenkichi.
One Strip! One Strip! It helps that Wolf is really well regarded amongst the Japanese fans, so I can see Atlus take note of it.

Helps that despite seeming like the Inspector Zenigata to Joker's Lupin, he's much deeper then that.

Dunno about the rest, but the royale additions have been veyr well received so far. Takuto especially, gets regularly praised as the best antagonist of modern persona. Kasumi less so but still overall good.
Took me about 30 minutes not counting the final Sinful Shell Scripted sequence.
Still nowhere near the potentially 2-3 hours that the Nyx Avatar from 3 has, and probably not even as long as Izanami from 4.
Watch SymphogearSo I'm actually playing Royal and I'm at the Madarame arc and I have a huge question.
How did the game justify meeting Nakanohara in person? He straight up met us and asked to change someone's heart. He knows we are at least affiliated with the Phantom Thieves website. That's extremely careless of the gang. Are we even trying to not look like we're the phantom thieves?
It's something that bugged me even with the vanilla version.

I'm turning down the difficulty to refight the boss. I got to the end with no problem and only lost because the game cheated me, so I'm cheating it back.
