Yosuke could've been interesting too... if they made him more serious and less of a dick.
I mean, this guy arguably has the best reason to go after the murderer, and there's not really any resolution there.
....ugh, Persona 4 is good, but ...so disappointing.
Again, A Different Kind of Truth writes the characters of P4 better then P4.
I honestly think Yosuke performing a Heroic Sacrifice to beat Izanami would've been better then what we got, as it would've actually made him more heroic and hell he could've gotten a better ending as a character... but nope. And it's worse cause his Social Link isn't even canon
I honestly didn't get any of that from Persona 3 tbh, and it's a reason why it's my favorite. Like yeah, Yukari is a jerk to Junpei because he's being Junpei, but it isn't Played for Laughs like in Persona 4 or even to some extent Persona 5
I think that the “guy with the Magician arcana is a pervert” thing was better done in P3 than P4, honestly. With Junpei, it’s not the majority of his character.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrI can't help but think the Yosuske hate only magnified after Yu got a personality. Before the Anime, I never got the impression he was unpopular.
But after that, they really doubled down on all of his worst traits to make him Yu's foil.
Junpei had a character arc where he grew as a person and neuther Ryuji or Morgana aren't as bad. Oh Yosuske, poor dolt.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Thinking about it. If Ann and the other Phantom Thieves also called out Morgana for giving Ryuji shit during that scene where Morgana and Ryuji had that fight which lead to Morgana leaving. I could actually see why Morgana would leave the PT. To see everyone else side with Ryuji would likely alienate him even further, especially if Ann’s words were the most harsh when calling out Morgana

Check out Rogues Gallery Transplant: The GameYosuke borrowed the CD and it gets destroyed completely by accident leads her to assault him, that's clearly a problem.
Girls hitting guys just cause they ovvereact like violent assholes has never been an endearing anime trope for ages.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I distinctly remember it being stated in a Q&A that Ryuji and Ann weren't friends in middle school, just acquaintances that would greet each other in the halls from time to time at best.
Persona 4 is resting on some really tired high school anime tropes and not all the good kinds imo. I still like the P4 team dynamic a bit more than P5's though. They at least talk about something else than plot business when they meet up.

Or he turned around hastily and slammed his crotch into a chair on his way to the door. It’s been portrayed multiple different ways, it happens off screen in the actual game so who knows.
The only time we know where she might have actually hit someone was Yosuke egging Kanji on into storming the girl’s tent. And uhh I do not blame Chie much on that one, that’s Yosuke being homophobic and manipulating Kanji into doing something stupid and dangerous.

No they're very clear her and sometimes Yukiko will ovvereact over even something like them not getting out of the hot springs on time causing the incident with guys to enter during the appropriate time, where they start throwing buckets, and Chie is very mich portrayed as getting physical. Or how they kick Kanji into the water just like Yosuke and Yu as a teacher vomits into it for the crime of...nosebleeding! Any idea she didn't is pure headcanon.
They are very consistent the two overreacting and will lash out at everyone if given the chance, as they even did with signing all the guys up for the Cross Dressing Pageant.
And Kanji still chose to do that, it's a very poor decision that Yosuke holds some of the blame for, but Kanji choosing to do that is itself of his own choice by acting irrational.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Yosuke is legitimately a creep and an asshole. He pervs on the girls — to the point of bringing swimsuits on the camping trip so he can pressure them into wearing them for his viewing pleasure despite them very obviously being uncomfortable with it. He demands that they make him dinner (because they're girls, of course they should cook dinner for the guys, this is the natural order of things), then complains loudly and repeatedly when they're not any good at cooking while offering nothing in the way of help or advice himself. He insists that Kanji is gay — despite Kanji's loud and repeated protests, and despite knowing that it's a painful subject for Kanji, because he was fucking there when Kanji accepted his Shadow — and he insists that being gay axiomatically makes him a Depraved Homosexual.
And he never lets any of this go. Half the game later, when the girls make genuine efforts to improve their cooking, Yosuke continues to making loud and disparaging comments about their skills, despite them clearly being sensitive about the subject. And not in a "haha, remember that one time when we had some really terrible food during the camping trip, those were fun times" sense. He goes out of his way to insist that they are bad and they should feel bad.
Yosuke is casually sexist, homophobic, petty, and cruel. At best you can argue that he's just a dumb kid being Innocently Insensitive. But he's a teenager, not a damn six year old, and he should damn well know better. And most infuriatingly, the game never calls him out on his bullshit. One of the most cathartic scenes in the game is at the hospital near the end, when you get a dialogue option that's basically "for once in your life, SHUT THE FUCK UP, Yosuke" (also one of the only times in the game that Yu does the "angry" animation), and that's only because he's genuinely arguing in favor of cold-blooded murder.
The game seems to think that the various undignified situations he ends up in (crashing his bike, etc) is supposed to compensate for this ("he's a jerk, but also bad things happen to him, so it balances out!"), but honestly it just makes him look worse, because he comes off as whiny and entitled when he gets all Woe Is Me about relatively minor stuff.
Fuck Yosuke.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. Those two present themselves as being able to cook, which is why Yosuke believed they could cook.
It's not like Rise, who just loves putting a ton of hot stuff cause she likes spicy foods, or can actually cook Naoto Shirogane who can...because she followed the recipe! Because of course anyone can cook if they just follow the recipe.
And canonically? No Yukiko and Chie don't improve, if anything Arena makes a joke about the fact Yukiko is still as terrible as ever yet believes it's delicious!

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

I have very mature and appropriate reasons to hate Yosuke as much as I do.
ahem
He's stupid and I don't like him
