I would like Teddie more if his voice wasn't so grating. Like I kinda wished they went the Vocal Dissonance route and gave him a stereotypical narrator voice or something.
The legend has returned.4 isn't a bad game, but 2, 3, and 5 are all masterpieces, which makes 4 look much worse then it really is. It's a really good JRPG... but these other one's are just way better.
Pretty much, Overshadowed by Awesome. That trope defines Persona 4.
The only scene in 4 I can say I really didn't like was the bit at the hot springs. I generealy enjoyed the light, slice-of-life scenes. Most of them actually do a good job of selling the IT as a group of friends, and I think people have forgotten about all but a few they can complain about.

Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Rise faked tears once to get her way and is possessive of the protagonist, even if you're dating another girl (though this doesn't apply to me since I actually romanced her). As for Naoto, I admit that my point doesn't apply to her. She's honestly the most level-headed of the group.
I still really enjoy Persona 4. Yes, some jokes really don't hold up very well but I think it's still a fun experience.

pee pee poo pooI like Persona 4... but I just don't think it stacks up compared to the other games. I do think Persona 4 would be better if it was darker and Adachi was the main villain, and Izanami wasn't a thing. The game's Lighter and Softer nature hurts it because it's supposed to be a murder mystery... but there are only three victims which you never even get to know, or are a Hate Sink.
I honestly think the game would be better if Nanako WAS Killed Off for Real.
I actually didn't like Rise that much on my initial playthrough, mainly because it felt like she didn't do anything for your during fights, compared to Fuuka's Enemy Scan ability. My opinion of her grew when I realized I was often rewarded for picking the most outrageous dialogue options during her events.
I'll also have to disagree that 3 is better than 4. I love both games, but I think 4 has both a stronger narrative and better gameplay.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut....what.
I can see the gameplay, (except for Portable) but how the hell is Persona 4's narrative better then Persona 3's Hell, Persona 4 has the weakest narrative in the franchise IMO because of the fact that it has no real stakes to it because no one dies in the TV World after you gain access to it. Imagine if you had to choose between different characters to save and one had to die and the other lived at some point. That would've been interesting.

That makes it sound like you're considering quality in terms of how dark the story is. 4 has a clear goal and does a much better job of introducing characters to the plot. 3 is often just "Hey here's this new party member". It also tends to meander a lot more, with the characters taking a long time to develop any particular goal and the monster-of-the-month format simply isn't as interesting or memorable as the neuroses-based dungeons.

Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut. The Mosnter of the Month just needed more impressive Tarot themed dungeons.
I do wish they'd stop with the 11thHourSuperpower stuff. Its not a good trend. P5 manages to partly break it in Royal where he disconnects Takuto from Adam.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. The best character trait for Rise is that she's actually quite a skilled cook, it's just that she likes really spicy food.
Bewitching EyesJust threw her in because while her Shadow was responsible for corrupting Teddie in the first place, she learns healing spells along with the Agi line so the entire mess would boil down to 'depressing home life with Dojima as he has lost his wife and daughter' or the Investigation Team is without one of their healers.

Yeah, Persona 3's story is slower paced that P4's (in that it's not "OH NOT GOTTA SAVE [current victim] BEFORE THEY DIE IN THE TV WORLD!" a bunch of times in a row), but it builds much more organically. In P3, the beginning leads to the middle leads to the end. In P4, the beginning leads to the middle and then the ends is like "WAIT I'M HERE TOO" and feels super tacked on and disconnected.
I mean hell, a whole goddamn dungeon and the actual final boss is missable content. Not even "this is an obvious bad end, you definitely screwed up" missable, just like... if you didn't talk to one particular random asshole that you had no legitimate reason to suspect was important at all, you just didn't get the actual ending of the game.
I'd have a hard time calling that a better story than Persona 3 even if it didn't also have Yosuke as an insensitive, sexist, homophobic asshat who gets the "oh, boys will be boys" treatment and never actually improves in any way.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

My stance.
Yosuke is an asshole a lot of time.
And some of the shit Chie does to him (spending his cash on Teddie's clothes) is extremely low, even with his assholishness into account. Like I said before, I feel like she'd be doing a lot of this stuff even without his tendency to be an ass, and him being an ass is only there to justify her treatment of him.
So basically, they're both awful.
One Strip! One Strip!
