that was always how that skill worked.
But yeah, that new skill feels so good to use, because you're actually in control of what you want to instakill or not. I couldn't even tell you what enemies were in Shido's palace or the 7th palace in P5 original because I'd have to bend over backwards to not ambush the enemies because I was overlevelled at that point of the game. getting full rewards also does wonder for your cash.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."Oh, now people want to like Ryuji? Pfft bandwagoners, I was team Ryuji before it was cool! :P
I just heard about the Persona 2 gamefaqs thing, where one of the FAQ writers disowned the guide he wrote and called Persona evil due to becoming a BAC. It's amazing meme potential.

Some people felt he's too much of a crossbreed of Chie (Chariot Arcana and lover of meat, as well as an thlete, albeit a former one) with Kanji (Died blonde hair, Deliquent and Book dumb, and a Physically oriented Electirc Persona).
I don't really care, but Max Mittleman's Voice Acting for him blows both of the other 2 out of the water (No offense to Tracy Rooney/Erin Fitzgerald or Troy Baker/Matthew Mercer)

his innocent sin was writing the guide, and his eternal punishment will be becoming a meme and not seeing his guide be removed.
As an aside, I believe royale improved ryuji's character because the third semester lets him showcase his growth he had over the game and he acts a lot more sensible than in the main game, like when he's the most emotionally intelligent of the group and is the first to formulate what everyone is thinking about the third semester situation. Junpei used to be much better than him to me but now it's a much tighter contest.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."People use to trash ryuji because he was dumb and loud about being a phantom Thief, and wasn't a girl. Plus he's kind of a dick at times. I honestly never saw him being compared to chie/kanji as a negative, just that he was annoying and rude. I felt like he's he only one that felt like a believable teenager where everyone else had that one thing that was a bit out there or acted like characters instead of people(Yusuke being the biggest offender). Like Haru being CEO's engaged daughter, ann being a model, everything about yusuke, makoto being out of touch with her age group, futaba's amazing hax skills, morgana being a talking cat and akechi entirely. Some of it isn't entirely unrealistic but compared to ryuji whose basically a troubled dude with a single mom who can't run track anymore he feels grounded in comparison.
His english VA does such a great job with him too. Might be my favorite VA in the series TBH.

I both like and dislike Makoto. I like her because she's initially very offputting yet becomes one of the most helpful members in the team while also having a sweet persona but her personalty is kind of meh at the same time. Like on her own she's a bit dull.
My least favorite is Yusuke. His introduction soured me on him, the starving artist jokes get old, and IMO it doesn't feel like he has a "role" on the team (might have changed in Royal). The last point is also my issue with Haru and to a lesser degree Ann, but the others factor is what drag him down.

they went too far in the other direction
