The scene just should have never existed to begin with I guess, but here we are.

One of the Twitter replies said that these guys are the ones doing the P 5 D crossdressing costumes and that and I'm firmly headcanoning that.

So is anyone even excited about this game, because everywhere I go online it's nothing but negativity and apathy.

I am. I'll wait till my birthday though, because RE 3 Make and FF VII Remake are bigger priorites right now.

Of course people are excited for it. They made this even worse and it's still going to go on to sell perfectly well. They've been doing this shit for years.

And I don't really give a shit over minor npcs. If they were major characters, I'd be more concerned, but Minor NP Cs aren't the biggest priority for me.

Well they're not going to change the fucked scene with the hero and Ryuji trying to coerce Ann to pose naked for a stranger either so

Those people sure as hell aren't here...or twitter, or /pg/...

I'm probably not getting Royal but that's mostly due to my declining interest in Persona as a series and already playing P5 twice.

Persona 5 wasn't what I wanted it to be after so much waiting, I can't see how more of it will change that.

I don't buy Atlus games any more exactly because stuff like this, but even most of the people complaining about it are going to buy it anyway, so it ultimately doesn't matter and it's just going to lead to more nonsense like this in the end.

I don't play Persona myself. But I'll be getting SMTV when it finally exists.

They need to stop doing this. I find it hard to believe they aren't getting more complaints about it, and the fact they're so bloody tone death about it is shocking.

I personally think drag queens that are super in-your-face about the fact are better than creepy horndogs, but that's just me.

They changed the voice actress for Tae?

Crossdressers are a thing in Japan without also being gay. They've even made a fetish out of it in Japan as otokonoko.

X4 Not buying the games doesn't stop this either. Unless it's something Atlus Jp has to confront directly, it's just punishing the people who are bringing the game over to the west.

Please don't try and justify this.

I never said it was a good thing, but it is a real thing and no one has to like it.

The issue is that it's a step from "gays are predators" to "gays are wacky nutbars who do weird abnormal stuff like crossdressing."

I don't quite understand it myself but I do understand that there are people who validate themselves though crossdressing. It's a form of expression, and it's just taking a potshot at a group with less notability or protection.

Japan fetishizes the hell out of it. Like thats where the issue comes from. Rin from Catherine was the same.

If the people over in the west think this change is an improvement, "punishing" them (how is not giving a corporation that puts a 10 dollar price hike on all their games and litters those same games with nickel and diming DLC money punishment) is just fine with me.

Orientation doesn't matter with Otokonoko, yeah.

There are characters like Hideri in Blend-S Who was a farm boy then came to the city and became a massive Attention Whore and has a fetish for fashionable clothes. Works as a Net Idol and at a Cosplay cafe completely without hiding anything, uses Boku and freely admits it. Completely straight too, for some actually funny jokes, the only guy he is attracted to is himself.

Now forcing crossdressing on other people... honestly that P5 scene just doesn't work with that context, even when you look at it with anime trope goggles on. Oddly forced in so many ways, which admittingly the original scene was that too.

x2 This is just the same ol'rereleases that have plagued the industry for full price for ages. Only a few like KHIII where Nomura knows through DLC they can update the game without releasing it at full price are changing things up smarter. Whether Atlus catches on that those are behind the times or not is only decided by Atlus Japan. Also difference in scale in how big each company is also matters, as Atlus is much smaller.

The only way you're going to get change is if enough people in Japan speak up about it. Because that's the only audience Atlus Japan sets their eyes on.

That might be true, but I'm still not going to give them my money. It won't change a thing in the long run, but I really don't want to support a company who routinely slips content like this into their games. You're free to do what you want, I'm not trying to tell anyone not to buy it.
