The spinoff games are far more free in how they use Alignments. Overlords Warlord 8th Day is all about sparingnpeople tryingto murder him and unifing mankind through said action against the angels of God and to eventually war against God himself by leading his legions of demons.

Or Raidou 2 Chaos route where Amatsu-Mikaboshi even states Chaos Raidou might serve the Lawful Yatagarasu, but only so long as their interests align and he'll defy them when he disagrees with them.

I agree. Dojima may be a bit misguided but for what he has to put up with he's doing the best he can. He's anything BUT neglectful. As mentioned already, the guy doesn't really have too many choices at his disposal as business is being driven out by bigger companies such as Junes, but he clearly still cares and tries his best to spend time with his daughter despite his busy work life. While Nanako is clearly lonely as we see at the start of P4, it's not like he can just drop everything and go to her; especially when we consider the fact he's still not over his own wife's death (which considering how she went out can you blame him?) AND on top of that now he's getting more of a workload dealing with Adachi's bs and the murders.

The way how I see it Kasumi is chaos in the sense that she an uncontrollable factor we don't know too much of yet. They way how I see them is that they could possibly be influenced to either side depending on where here interests lie. I can see her betraying the thieves if there was a greater reward for her somewhere else. Where that is we'll have to wait and see.

Either way, i'm getting red flags from Kasumi, i'm getting the feeling like Marie from Persona 4, she has some connection to the Big Bad, perhaps a back up plan? Or knowing the whole Chaos vs Law conflict, there is a chance she's really an agent for Lucifer. Now i can't recall exactly, but Kasumi, Akechi and Joker can hang out at the same time according to the trailers?

Calling it right now: Kasumi is a backup unit for Yaldy in case his plans got derailed for any reason and the third term events are a prelude to what this backup wants to do with humanity.

I really hope Kasumi isn't a Marie retread. How about her just being a normal girl who just happens to get dragged inside these dream stuff because of reasons.

Nah, that's every other party member, Kasumi is a new addition to a 60 dollar remake, people would riot if she was a random person dragged into this mess.

In fact, he figures out quite a lot of the same things the thieves do despite lacking the context of the supernatural craziness.

According to the trailet, Kasumi's thing is that she disagrees with the Phantom Thieves' methods. Genuinely, unlike Akechi. That's a way better source of conflict and it doesn't need to be muddled up with Marie god stuff.

the truth is that people will riot if kasumi is anything. Just not the same people. The only thing i want from her is to be a compelling character with a nice story to tell. I'll be perfectly fine with more of what we already got if it happens to be that.

If she's integrated more gracefully than Marie and written organically as a character, I'll be satisfied.

One last comment on LGBT issues - latter-day Persona repeatedly striking out on them is especially odd because there are other Atlus games with much better representation. Digital Devil Saga is the clear winner here, having the bi Argilla, lesbian or bi Jinana, and intersex Jenna. Dr. Zoe of Strange Journey is bi as well, expressing attraction to both Jimenez and Zelenin - and may or may not have straight-up hit a home run with both of them depending on how you interpret her various suggestive comments. Admittedly all these examples being hot chicks does beg the question of whether they're just intended as fanservice for men; very common in Japan.

For the guys we've got Jun from Persona 2, an explicit romance option, and Alcor from Devil Survivor 2, all but expressly stated to be totally into Bunny-kun. In Apocalypse there's also a sympathetic drag queen who is one of several memorable bit players in the game with their own small character arcs going on in the background - seriously, in that game, make sure you talk to everyone after every major plot point, there's good stuff thereabouts.

That's probably because Persona has a different dude in charge than other Atlus games, I suppose.

Fetishization of queer women definitely isn't just a Japan thing, but in the case of Argilla and Jinana it isn't really played that way. It goes in the tragic lesbians direction instead, which has its own iffy history. At least they get to reunite in the afterlife and do sick combo attacks, so that's good?

There's also Serph and Sara fusing to become Seraph at the end, and while the majority of non-binary characters being products of fantasy like aliens, robots, or fusions is a problematic trend, it's still kinda cool.

It's never really been an Atlus issue as much as a Hashino one. The only other time I'm aware of they've come under fire for it was mainline Persona and Catherine, the games he directed or was heavily involved in.

I could see the remake Director take over the mainline games after Royal.

Also, could we see the previously unseen, but not shown return of a Persona to a Shadow with Kasumi?

I'm not that big of a fan of the series, but weren't the way most of the Phantom Thieves got their Persona's different than in other games in the series?

Hmm...Persona 5 Scramble has the Thieves going all over Japan. What are the chances they will visit a certain port island or a certain backwater town?

Regarding Persona, it has always been obtained by accepting your Shadow, not necessarily as direct as Persona 4. It's just that most of the Thieves' Shadows are conveniently based on their rebellious spirit. The modern Persona series has always been constant that Persona is just a controlled Shadow.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers really is a spin-off of Persona 5. It got an announcement for an announcement.

So Goro now has Black Mask as his default costume...yeah, I think the real Goro's dead and this Goro that comes after that is a cognition made by the Phantom Thieves. As for why they'd conjure him, I have no idea, but I think it's both a heavy mixture of emotions towards him and the need for more arms.

The amount of Eldritch styled imagery in that trailer though...

With Byakhee in the game, the possibility of Nyarly or another Cthulu Mythos character being the new Final Boss becomes more likely with each trailer.

Honestly by this point if it isn't Nyarlathotep I won't be surprised.

It could happen, but honestly the first 3 games haven't gotten much rep in years, so I'd not get my hopes up.
