It's not so much about having standards for your bad guys so much as having standards as to what you will portray as "cool" or "edgy" . Child rape is neither...I will portray that shit as straight up fucking evil, because that's what it is.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~Or have a "malfunctioning" rogue cyborg ex-assassin crash in and reveal that he had taken a protective "affection" to the kid in some previous encounter, was separated from him/her for some reason, and Is. Pissed. Off.

Well, that's an option AFTER they get rid of him. I mean, with the addition of skillwires, the kid COULD become something like a wind-up assassin.
I hope they'll do something more responsible, if not as profitable.
Hey, I've been reading through Dunkelzahn's Secrets, and have been wondering... "Orange Queen" is Hestaby, right? Then who's "Loremaster"? Almost certainly not Lofwyr (who technically is the one who inherited the title after getting the Jewel of Memory), because the dispute between the former two is interrupted by a certain "S-K HQ10596@saederkrupp.com". Whoah, Loffy ain't subtle when he's angry, is he?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. So, I'm a complete newb to Shadowrun and tabeltop RP Gs in general, but one of my friends invited me to his game. With nine people building characters, we didn't have a lot of time for the campaign today, but I managed to get started with my character: an ambidextrous elf who dual-wields pistols and rides a motorcycle. Any advice?
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]
I basically just started, but my skills are Athletics: 4, Pistols: 6, Gunnery: 2, Perception: 4, and Escape Artist: 2. My qualities are Ambidextrous, High Pain Tolerance 2, and Lightning Reflexes, while my negative qualities are two uncommon mild allergies. Attributes-wise, I don't have my sheet handy, but I think it's Body: 5, Agility: 6, Reaction: 4, Strength: 4, Charisma: 2, Logic: 3, Willpower: 4, Intuition: 2. So far, I have the best comlink and OS, the best bike you can have at the start, and augmentations for my eyes and ears. Also, a GPS, grapple gun, helmet, bulletproof vest with fire and chemical protection to the max, and four clips of ammo.
Why so much Body? You'll do great with 4, and move that 1 point to Int. It's always one more dice to Perception and blind-firing.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisSo, I've sorta slow-started a Shadowrun campaign as the GM... at the moment, it's just the DM for my weekly D&D game that's playing, to familiarize himself with the rules so he can help me out once the others join in (and also he's the only one that doesn't have to drive an hour-ish to get to my place >.>), and... yeah. So far been just making stuff up on the fly, since the planning I'd managed to do was in preparation for the group to play, and I don't want to burn through all of it with only one player >.O
Seems to be enjoying himself so far, at least- I gave him my gamebreaker face build, which he latched onto immediately (20 dice in Con and Negotiation out of chargen, along with 14 in etiquette, leadership and intimidate), but it's tiring making things up on the fly. Thankfully I finally managed to talk him out of having his ultimate goal be the nuclear annihilation of Seattle (because Seattle annoys him -_-;)
Oh well. Any new tales of horror from your players, Longcoat?
No, my group fell apart due to general slowness of PBF, and I'm trying to gather a new one. Luckily, I know that my ex and two people from the photo group (where we actually did a Shadowrun-themed shoot last year and I'm working on one this July) will play, and as soon as we're done wrecking some arrogant daimyo's shit in Legend Of The Five Rings, we may switch to my LA campaign. Rebooted, but I'll see what my players come up with (hint, pornomancy of the magnitude you just gave will not be tolerated).
Man, reading through the older edition's corporate sourcebooks is enlightening about MegaCorp clout in the Shadowrunverse. No such thing as research labs/institutes that are independent of MegaCorp control? That sucks.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
It's a crapsack world.
One thing I find odd about Shadowrun's system is the glitches. Increasing from an odd to an even number of dice actually increases your chance of a glitch [1]
◊, (Yellow line).
Personally I consider it a acceptable inherit quirk of the D6 dice pool but I know some people consider it a fatal flaw of the game system.

In a weird way, it kind of makes sense. The character discovers new techniques and methods that work better, but there's a period of time where they're merely proficient with the techniques, rather than experts at them. So they're more likely to screw them up than the more basic ones they've already mastered. So while they become more likely to succeed, they're also slightly more likely to cause a fiasco.

"If there is such a phenomenon as absolute evil, it consists in treating another human being as a thing." -John BrunnerThat's what I concluded as well, but I seen people use it as 'objectionable proof' that the game systern is broken.
I suppose you could just change it say you have to have more than half the dice be 1s to count as a glitch. Although that might just be making odds the one to increased risk.
Fiasco, now 'there's'' is a fun game.
hashtagsarestupidHah, now here's a funny line that I've come across in Corporate Download.
If you break it, pay for it. If you break, kill, steal, destroy or otherwise damage another corp's property (employees or otherwise), and your target can prove it, you have to foot the bill. Lesson learned: Don't get caught. That's right, the existence of the Corporate Court makes shadowrunning a must—by law. Cool, eh?
Shadowrunning is legalized by Corporate Court law (even if getting caught red-handed is another matter). Who would've thought?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.BTW, I have a question: What the hell is a "pulse"? The Shadowrun Wiki's attempt at explaining it here
hasn't gotten me a clear answer, IMO.
Hah, couldn't help but laugh at that one. Thanks.
... Shit. Just started reading through the Aztlan sourcebook for 2nd Edition, and noticed that Dunkelzahn is decking Shadowland so that he and a select group of probably important figures (I recognize one of the handles as obviously belonging to Harlequin) could read the document that Captain Chaos got without any of SL's 'runners being the wiser.
EDIT: ... Juan Atzcapotzalco apparently has potent supernatural power of some sort, despite a Great Dragon and an immortal Elf both reading his aura as completely human. That is intriguing. Perhaps he's not so much of a figurehead as people tend to think of him — though obviously it's not enough to make him autonomous from Aztechnology's grip.
EDIT 2.0: ... Scheisse! A great dragon with a Corrupted aura might be masterminding Aztechnology/Aztlan all on his own?! Somebody should call an Omega Order on the Azzies, pronto!
BTW, does anyone know if this site
's info taken solely from the actual lore, or if it's part that and part creative-license for their own RPG sessions?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.

Tell that to people who actually care — which, obviously enough, does not include this set of players that we've been told of.
PS: Don't worry, I do care. At the very least, I would've made careful plans to cack the bastard in such a way that does maximum damage to his employers while minimizing any fallout that could land me and/or my party in trouble. Hey, the longer that I/we live, the better chances that I might be able to do the same thing to other similarly vile criminals in the future, right?
