I was once a huge Neopets fan. I'm really sad that it changed for the worse.

Ahh...Neopets...

My childhood spent many an hour on that site.

And..I logged on it recently, (Not so many ads for me. Hooray for Adblock Plus!!)

Keyquest is fun, in an annoying kind of way.

It also shouldn't be this embarrassing to log onto Neopets in my own house. [lol]

I never beat Neoquest, and that saddens me. I was addicted to Cheat!, though, and played it even after I'd stop earning points from it...

Aaaahh, I wasted so much time on that site in high school! Remember the paint brushes? I was dirt poor because I only played the flash games for money and never bothered with gaming the restocking system, but I had three of my four pets painted because they were doing a promotion where you could get paint brushes for signing up for special offers (ie volunteering to get spammed). I remember I thought I was sooooo cool because I had a starry Shoryu and a faerie ... um ... the alien thing (forget what it was called). Later on they introduced Draik and Lutari and I wanted them so bad, but I had nowhere near the patience/luck to try and get one.

And I not only remember when Eyrie used to be Tatsu, I remember when it used to be Cerpull, and there was a Neopet called Macy Gray. Boo yah.

I have to say the highlight was when Neoquest II came out. It was all downhill after that.

^ Nah, it was good for longer than that. I had beat both neoquests maybe a year before the downhill even started, in my opinion anyways. Though I started later than many of you, it seems, and probably stayed later.

The Tatsu and the Cerpull were awfully similar-looking, though, weren't they?

Yes, the store restocking. I was always too late to purchase anything. It would have been nice to have the option to window-shop, even it things are sold out.

Stupid artificial scarcity.

I don't remember the exact point I left...what year did the two Neoquests come out?

I actually stuck with it as late as 2006, mostly because they had such a good community for learning HTML and CSS without worrying about all the adult content. And I had fun playing the games (I was absolutely addicted to Faerie Quest, Hannah and the Pirate Caves, Whack-A-Kass, and some puzzle game with a toybox I can't remember the name of) and reading the Neopian Times. I actually got an article published about writing, and I was so proud. But I got so mad at how it had changed that I had to quit. Ah... fond memories.

Neopets taught me HTML, so I can thank it for that, too.

Pet pages were actually pretty cool. I pimped mine out with my pet's cheesy stories and... MID Is. Ahhhh, nostalgia.

What was that one where you were a Kacheek trapped in a graveyard and you had to collect all the food to escape? Good times, man.

The site first started sucking with Neocash. No exceptions.

I imagine it depends on when your Neopets hayday was. If it was when humans were still allowed in the official art, the Giant Omelet was brand-new, and you could still name your pet something fairly interesting, you tend to look on the Neo-Neopets with scorn.

I just discovered a Spiritual Successor to Neopets of sorts called Subeta.

I tried it. It's a bit bare-bones, but it certainly does a good job trying to capture the spirit of Neopets from around 2003-2007.

Although, I have to say, I was somewhat embarrassed learning that I was one of the only male players around...

I played Subeta a little a looong time ago, but I found it was way too "teenagery" for my tastes. It came off as a little obnoxious.
