Ahhh... Ye Goode Olde Days.
I remember having a Tatsu before they changed them into Eyries. And Rainbow Snow Cannons. And the only item in the Faerie Tower I was actually able to afford was the Chia Flour, which, when you think about it, is kind of Dick Move in item form and seems like a really bad idea from a gameplay perspective. Were they trying to encourage the griefers?
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaThe Eyrie change was before my time, I'm pretty sure, but I remember when the art style wasn't hideous, when it was run by actual people, when you didn't have to pay for anything... ahhh. Also, the hidden tower always frustrated me. I was so excited when I found it, but then I couldn't afford anything and I was like :|

Me too. I remember those days of spending countless hours on there playing games and saving up an insane amount of Neopoints to buy some ridiculous item...it's a shame that they've changed so much. And that I don't have nearly as much free time.
Chances are, I'm not actually wearing any pants right now.One glorious day, me and three friends teamed up to play every single existing game three times within one day, and see how much we made. We made it all the way through, too, which I'm pretty sure wouldn't be possible anymore (though that's not really a bad thing). I think we wound up making like 100-150k, which felt like a LOT.
Oh, man, I remember Neopets being so fun. Probably the only instance I can think of where They Changed It, Now It Sucks! is a valid critisism.
I remember reading an editorial in the Neopian Times (Stoneman3x was the god of Neopets comics then) saying that nothing would change now that they were owned by Viacom.
Speaking of Stoneman3x, it was right about the time he quit playing, I noticed, that the site's quality started to drop.
... Is there a Spiritual Successor to the old Neopets somewhere out there? If so, I'll need to give it a try.
Discover the rest as the game progresses.I remember the comic strip that was about the Pound guy and the Uni being comically mismatched coworkers! What on EARTH was the name of that thing?
And Balthasar the fairy trapper being a bishie. I think I totally wrote a Draco in Leather Pants sob story origin for him too where he was really the illegitimate son of Fyora who was exiled by the faerie council and so swore REVEEEEENGE.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaPractically lived on that site back then! I didn't have any real friends, but I did have my Neopets.
I still have this little notebook where I sketched pictures of them. And I made up my own kinds. I had a snow Acara, an angel Acara, a snow Wocky...etc.
That, and I named my first ever role-playing character, Eloanneo, after my Peophin.
ShineI had a blue Acara, a blue Wocky, a purple Peophin, as well as blue Shoyru which I accidentally changed to a purple Poogle. (But I was happy with the result.)
I never actually had any special paintbrushes, though I did covet them quite a bit. I was terrible at making money.

ShineI thought you could only have four?
...Still looking for that Spiritual Successor.
Discover the rest as the game progresses. The only thing I cared about was.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.^ Man, I had all these great ideas for my Neohome, and all of that stuff.
Then Neohomes 2.0 came out. The original was shoved deep into the sidelines, and I lost all of my inspiration.
I definitely had an Aisha and possibly either a Kougra, or Shoryu. I probably had multiple Aishas. Can't remember the colors anymore, though...
All I really remember is being frustrated that I could barely afford stuff in most of the shops. Also, no one ever bought anything from me... ;___;
Hmm, I think I remember always going to Jelly World and that prehistoric place to pick up free food. And playing that Wheel of fortune game in the fairy-cloud place....and that fountain where you could pick up paintbrushes.
Aaah, good times. It's too bad I got tired of it eventually....
Tumblr here.I got banned from Neopets for exploiting code to always have a winning kiosk card >.>
Ecstasy is Sustained Intensity

I hate to call They Changed It, Now It Sucks!, but... precious childhood memories! It was so fun, though, even if it was an enourmous waste of time.
