The caption does all the work. There is nothing to indicate that this person in a Violently Protective Girlfriend in any way whatsoever.

This is still a signature.

Axis Powers Hetalia? Really? -_-

Too bad that Belldandy from Ah My Goddess isn't the best example of this trope, because she will give her life to protect Keiichi. You don't want to see her angry either.

Maybe we could go with something of Neytiri? She'd be a fairly recognizable example seeing as how Avatar's the highest-grossing film ever, and I'm sure we could find some screenshots of her being violently protective of Jake...

EDIT: Also, I found this in the video games section of the article:

"One sided example in Sonic The Hedgehog with Amy Rose when Silver tried to kill Sonic. Becomes her Crowning Moment Of Awesome and a pic of her Death Glare during this scene is a good pic candidate."

[up] I think people can find the image on their own.

Ah... I see.

Well the event in question is certainly the trope.

And the picture does show a violent girl. Needs more "Girlfriend" though.

rodney, you're supposed to post a link if you pull it down. This way everyone can see the image without having to go through a lot of work, and hopefully no one suggests the same image again.

[up][up][up]

I had to go to the page history to find it. That's a lot more work to put people through.

Anyway, the following are some of Hungary and Austria that are more clear:

1 and 2

The second isn't half bad.

I tried seeing if Belldandy had any but couldn't find them.

However, I think we were overlooking the obvious choice: Yuno from Mirai Nikki.

I couldn't find a good one with google search, but the manga ought to be chock full of examples, if anyone is willing to go dig through the archives.

Yes, yes, it was specifically a dig about this, sorry I tripped over Poe's Law. Note the sarcasm tag, though. I agree that it is good manners to link to exactly what you're talking about.

One of these days I will earn the benefit of the doubt that rodney is saying something retarded. One of these days.

Okay... I get it now.

I didn't have any hard feelings anyways.

I second the nomination of Ney'tiri for the picture. There are two scenes in the movie where she's crouched down over Jake with teeth bared at the camera and a knife in hand. Either moment would serve nicely.

1 2.

The first is more visceral, but I think either of these would do. New to the site though, not sure if they'd need to be resized or if they do so automatically.

Neither of those links are working; the pics don't come up from the links, and hitting Enter on the UR Ls takes you to the Yahoo search page.

It's hard to tell the first one is even of a girl, and even the second one (though obviously better) doesn't necessarily make this all that clear. I think there is still room for improvement...

EDIT: What about the Amy idea mentioned earlier?

Definitely the first; the second looks like she just got caught after killing him.

So how's it decided? Do we all just cast a vote? If so at what point is it decided?

A crowner will probably need to be made.

Neytiri doesn't even look like a girl in the 1st one, though.

Maybe we could use one of Amy. It's technically "peacefully protective" in its original context (which I fast-forwarded through videos of Silver's story to find; not very familiar with the game) but it could have become violent, which I think is apparent from her pose.

Even a former Damsel in Distress is willing to stand up to a telekinetic Knight Templar who threatens her boyfriend.

Disagree. Whether Neytiri looks like a girl is clearly subjective. I think she does, and your the first person I've heard from who didn't think so.

Furthermore, the Amy pic just doesn't fit the trope well enough, IMO. There's absolutely nothing to indicate violence, which is kind of important.

EDIT: Its like Anaheyla said, you can't have a picture where the caption does all the work.

I meant she doesn't in the first pic. Or are you saying I was the first to say she didn't in the first pic? If so how many people's input have you had on said pic?

If you could find an image where she more obviously looks like a girl AND is clearly being violently protective that'd be better. For now I recommend the image of a girl with a bold-looking pose standing in the way of someone with glowing gloves.

She doesn't look very female in the first pic, mostly because she lacks the more common secondary and tertiary female characteristics, however, I don't think it's necessary. I would like to see them shrunk down before I cast support for them. I've tried shrinking some shots of Avatar and it doesn't always work.

I actually had to shrink the Amy pic from its original context on youtube to make it less than 350 pixels wide; if I cropped it as such instead would that have been an improvement?

In the first Neytiri picture, we have no idea what she's protecting, or that she's protecting something. She's just sitting there hissing with a knife.

In the second, she doesn't look particularly protective. She might even look like she's getting ready to kill him, considering her body is angled towards him with the knife, even if she's looking away.

That too @ helterskelter

I would suggest tentatively replacing the current one with Amy for now, and then replacing it further if we can find a better one of Neytiri. (Or any other example, for that matter.)

Ah... that's not a very good picture. The one I found of Hungary is better.

And I still think Yuno would be the best example, if I could figure out the right search terms.

Here's a page of Yuno, it's the best I've found so far, but it might be a bit too big.
