Kohaku: ...
-For one brief moment, Kohaku sounds less like she's bored and more like she's attempting to be coherent and analytical-
Kohaku: By the raw definition of "a gathering of knowledge", yes, the study of the mystical aspects of reality are indeed a form of science. But I have a personal problem with a branch of encyclopedic knowledge that asserts it can't ever be understood or applied without a vaguely defined genetic predisposition, in part because I have spent a great deal of my previous careers dedicated to that field and I know that supernatural phenomena never has an origin as simple as "I was born this way".
I understand that you have lived with this phenomena all your life and find my disregard of its effects confounding, Kayla. I bear no disrespect to your person or your work ethic. I will still continue to remain skeptical of your assertions until I have some method of actually observing it and coming to my own conclusions without needing to rely on the words of another.
-...And then switches back to sounding bored because even that much was overly exerting on her-
Kohaku: ...Also, is this one of your mage friends, Kayla? Because I don't quite recognize her.
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Kayla: But is it not genetic disposition that makes one good at science? Red tutored under you and still cannot name one law of physics. Further, one does not need to cast spells in order to study magic. Magic-craft is a science. We perform experiments using a tested method, we record said results, and we submit them for peer review. Further, we have a code of ethics and a regulatory body that ensures magical experiments do not harm anyone. What you see is the flashy, showy magic that is used for combat. J Ust as missiles are a flashy, showy application of science.
Kohaku: Kayla, knowledge is not inherently rooted in genetic predisposition. Red's an idiot, but he has the capacity to apply his knowledge in other ways beyond memory rote rotation. I've asked over thirty people what magic is, and it's always been framed to me in a binary state, "can/can't use it, ergo can/can't understand it".
...Like I'm sure this nice young lady would do if I asked her to explain how someone like me would use magic.

Kohaku: Total double standards, yo.
