-Joanna walks by everyone in the gym with a keg full of water and some wet towels-
Joanna: Perhaps if you tried "conflict resolution" you could work things out better with her than momentary retribution. Talking to this one about how your sensibilities were offended when your buttocks were caressed at an inappropriate moment might straighten her out.
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Joanna: Many years ago, when I was still traveling with my adventuring party and adopted family, there were many times I would question the same thing. "Why are we sparing the life of this man, he hides behind his bodyguards and does not face us himself." "Why do we allow this city to continue to insult us by refusing to submit to our rule, they mock us daily." "Why let this faun live, it will only die with an injury of that nature, better to give it the peace of death".
Every time, I would be told that the efforts made to sheath one's sword would pay off, and it did. The crime lord we had spared despite our misgivings allowed us to fund our third successful campaign against a local hierarchic's rule. Letting the city remain neutral created a strong trading partner who we could sell our silver to in exchange for rare artifacts. The faun was a forest guardian, who grew up in a matter of years and sheltered us when the Fifth Crusade of the Solar Power had sought to attack us when we were most vulnerable.
...Believe me when I say that, were I in your position, I would have wished to exact physical retribution as well. But I have begun to better appreciate the mindset of those who believe words and charity have a greater effect, due to my talks with people such as this. Even if I do not fully understand or agree with those who sheathe their sword instead of swing it, I can at least respect their efforts to do so. In some ways it is often harder than simply focusing on the here and now.
-Pours some water in a mug and gives it to Dinah-
Do not worry about whether you belong as an outsider unable to understand their ways. Focus instead on what you can contribute to this as a proud member and representative of your tribe and see if you can educate them. It is what I had done for many years, and I have no regrets about it.
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)Joanna: Thank you, miss Dinah.
-Bows-
And on a personal note, I would have find it a shame to see someone of such purity of purpose to leave. It has been many years since I've seen someone who reminded me of one of my own kinsmen in such a good way.
