I know, I know, the mods are supposed to give the benefit of doubt, but this is lookin' a tad fishy...

WHAT THE HELL?!?!

It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.

I'm not even sure the grammar is the biggest issue here.

Finnish grammar is the Cthulhu of linguistics.

Don't believe me?

Here's the Wiktionary definition of "antaa", Finnish for "to give".

Open the folder "Conjugation".

You need to know about 90% of that list to be able to use the word well (if you know only 90% we can probably still tell Finnish isn't your native language).

Every verb has that many forms, and while in English the irregular verbs come in 7 groups, we have no irregular verbs as such, but here's a list of every verb family sorted by how they conjugate; so each one of those links contains a family of verbs that have similar conjugation. There's more than a couple.

Besides, verbs aren't even the most complicated word class in Finnish; nouns are.

...

It's times like this that I wish TV Tropes had a wide-eyed "surprise" avatar. The next time someone complains English grammar is complicated I'm pointing them to that page.

But yeah, I do have a (relatively) pertinent question. "Sherlok Holms": Stealth Parody or actually real?

^^^Reminds me of Latin.

^^English conjugation is a joke. It's the spelling that's weird. And yes, Holms is parody. And surprised

English pronunciation is evil though.

"HEY WE GOT ALL THESE LETTERS LET'S PRONOUNCE THEM WHATEVER THE FUCK WE WANT"
"But the Romans have pronunciation rules for all those letters, and are quite simple..."
