I actually prefer subs, but still watch mostly dubs. Exceptions exist though. I watch Gurren Lagann subbed because the German dub is... well, too sub-par for me to tolerate. Especially since the German DVDs come with the English dub, which is much better in comparison. This makes the German dub look even worse.

On the other hand, I watch Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight only with the dub because it got a new release after the Lord of the Rings movies came out. With the German VA of Frodo as Parn (among others).

I'm one of those types who think subs is usually the way to go unless the dub is REALLY good, like FMA or Beebop.

Also, if a girl is meant to have a higher pitched voice, you ALWAYS go with subs. English VA cannot do those voices...at all.

And plus there is a more diversity talent pool in Japan. Yes, Steve Blum is awesome. No I dont want to hear him EVERYWHERE.

There was NO reason to have him voice Eliphas in Dawn Of War :<

I used to prefer subs, although I never had a problem with dubs. But over the years I think I've shifted to preferring dubs for the most part, for reasons I can't fully explain. Partly, I think I just enjoy hearing the sound of my own language being spoken. It connects to me in some subconscious, maybe even primal way that a foreign language just can't. And plus, I think dubs get way more hate than they deserve. Unless they just really suck, which is rarer and rarer nowadays (but still happens), a dub will have good acting and good voices. And plus I know that it's always Dawson Casting, but I'm kind of sick and tired of high-pitched moe-voices in Japanese anyway. They've started to grate on me after all this time.

That said, I can still appreciate a good Japanese language track. Durarara and Kimi Ni Todoke are two shows I can think of with stellar Japanese casts. (Good thing for the latter one, too, as it's been licensed in the US but it's not going to be dubbed. sad)

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.

It's 6 of one, half a dozen of the the other when it comes to subs vs dubs for me. Usually it's a question of quality (Cowboy Bebop, Darker than Black for dubs and Durarara for subs to give some examples), but there's always the question of aesthetic appreciation, as I saw the Dub for Samurai Champloo first, but just enjoy the sub more because I think Mugen's voice fits better in Japanese and I refuse to watch the dub of Gurren Lagann even though it got better as time went on, 'cause it just doesn't sound right to me.

And there's always the nostalgia factor for me. I will only watch Rurouni Kenshin or Gundam Wing in english, even though those dubs qualify for Narm or Narm Charm depending on who you ask. Though the Betterman dub is so shitty, I switched over to subs for that.

Speaking of which, Richard Cansino needs to be in more dubs.

The German dub of Samurai Champloo is ridiculously good, by the way.
