Actually DDR already kind of apologized and said it was wrong to equate fanbase with the objective quality of a show.

Though I still don't understand how one can mainly derive enjoyment from a show based on the fanbase. Like, okay, you can't discuss the show because the fanbase is shit. It sucks but... Big deal. How exactly does this lead to "there's no point in me watching the show then"?

This level of trolling is reasonable for Commander Obvious. What do you think of this, everyone?

I agree. If I decided what I liked based on the fanbase I would like almost nothing at all, since the fanbase of almost everything has done something to piss me off. All you have to do is ignore it and not care.

Like how the Megaman Fanbase keeps pissing me off, because they can't get over the fact that Megaman Legends 3 was canceled.

Exactly how many fans and fanbases do you people hang around anyway? If you hate a fanbase, can't you just not be around it, ignore it, and pretend it doesn't exist? It shouldn't be that hard, right? I haven't met any annoying fans outside the internet (not that I go looking for them), and any fanbase that really gets on my nerves is of stuff that I would never even think of looking at in the first place.

Uh...let me think. I'm not sure if it's unpopular or not, but I prefer dubs over subs.

And, um...NGE sucked.

The only anime that have actually entertained me are Death Note and Azumanga Daioh, really, so I'm not sure what I'm doing here...

[up] I prefer dubs over subs because of convenience (If I wanted to read a story then I'd buy a book, I have that kind of mentaility), but if I HAVE to watch a show with subtitles, then I wouldn't even twitch, I'd be completely ok with it.

and EVERYONE likes Death Note [lol] (not really but still...)

another controversial opinion of mine: Sebastian is one of my most hated characters in all of fiction.

I prefer dubs, mostly because the subbing community tends to pander to japanophiles, rather than just translate.

Of course, there're good subtitles out there, buuuuut you have to look for them. Whereas dubs are only one per language.

Basically, me is lazy.

I don't have a particular problem with subtitles, though.

Also...

And, um...NGE sucked.

So do menus. Your point?

I prefer subs for all sorts of reasons, but mainly because most dubs kind of sucks. Translations are hard enough in text, in speech they often become really silly.

I think dubbing is something you just get used to. The way they speak is somewhat stilted, my dad can't stand it, but when you get used to it, the actors can be really enthralling sometimes, plus, I can't eat a meal if I'm reading subs [lol]

I just hate the implied notion that TRUE anime fans choose subtitles.

It really depends on the show for me, Cowboy Bebop and Darker Than Black, for example, I wouldn't watch subbed assuming I had the choice.

@Noimporta: That too. As well as I'm fairly sure there're shows that nobody should watch dubbed because of the badness.

Well, while the quality of the dub helps, I was talking mostly about how those shows are. The Noir (or whatever) atmosphere CB goes for just doesn't work as well with Japanese as it does with English, same for Darker than Black (Also, November 11 without an actual British accent? What madness is that?).

@Beorc: If I cared for advocating EVA's quality, I'd be doing so. But I'd have to be an idiot for doing so. Not because I dislike it, but simply because EVA is divisive. Incredibly so. Disliking it is not uncommon.

I think preferring subs or dubs as some sort of general rule is... equally retarded.

I just choose whatever has better voices on a case-to-case basis. And then, instead of becoming the same subbing-vs-dubbing debate as always, it becomes a matter of taste. And since I have the greatest taste in the world, I'm always right.

[up][up]Okay, fair enough. I don't bring up menus constantly though; I dunno why you randomly take that jab at every opportunity. But that's off topic.

[up]Well, if the dub is bad, I just don't watch it, but it tends to be other things that make me stop watching anime anyways.

Because that's pretty much all I know about you.

I like to watch both and see which one is better, but I always prefer watching the dub first because...um...

I dunno lol
