Greater Gargadon could be fun.

I guess it is.

Do you guys know much about playing Magic abroad? I'm going to end up in Osaka for about 6 months, and it occurred to me that I might want to figure out what the Magic scene is like there.

Well, I know Magic is really popular in Japan (as are TCGs in general); I don't know anything about Osaka specifically but I imagine you shouldn't have much problem finding somewhere to play.

I guess it is.

Hey, one of my best friends lives in Osaka! I could bug him about nerd-spots for you. (He's not a Magic player, but the geek is strong with him.)

Diffusion is also a Regress variant, so you wouldn't *have* to include a suspended spell. Hell, you can even cast it on Koth himself.

Are Venser and Koth actually enemies?

Also, weird that they're only releasing this now that Venser's dead.

[up][up]The press release states that they aren't... but they disagree over how best to save Mirrodin. And that apparently leads to fighting.

Koth doesn't like Venser's experimenting with old Phyrexian artifacts, and their meeting got off to a very rocky start, but after killing a bunch of Phyrexian zombies they agree that they need to work together. The duel deck probably takes place sometime after the end of Scarred, the last Koth/Venser/Elspeth webcomic.

I think I'll watch. Then again, it's been two hours since then, so maybe I'll play my nasty deck.

Unfortunately, I had stuff to do an hour and a half after posting that, and I don't have time right now.

Also, today's Bad Idea: Sphinx Twin. Splinter Twin + Sphinx of Uthuun = free Fact or Fiction whenever you like.

Thread, I seek advice.

I'm not familiar with all the awesome nonstandard lands. What would be good to put in a Black/Blue deck?

Watery Grave, Drowned Catacomb and Sunken Ruins are pretty good.

Depends on the format:

In standard, Creeping Tar Pit, Drowned Catacombs, and Darkslick Shores.
In Modern, the above, plus Sunken Ruins, Watery Grave, and Underground River. Also, fetchlands can get Grave.
In Legacy, you'll want Underground Sea and Polluted Delta.

Confidant, I am so sorry. We dropped my cousin off, were on the way back home, and then "Hey, let's go to the car wash!"

"No."

"This car's filthy!"

"NO."

"I'm the one driving."

"Motherfu-"

Also, today's Bad Idea: Sphinx Twin. Splinter Twin + Sphinx of Uthuun = free Fact or Fiction whenever you like.

I actually considered doing this in my Splinter Twin deck. The reasoning behind it was that Consecrated Sphinx was in some of the decks I'd seen, and I thought a CIP ability would be better for a card I expected to die. The extra mana was what convinced me it wasn't a great idea, but it's unlikely you'd be able to convince me to change my current list even if they cost the same.

Worse idea: Acidic Slime / Terastodon + Splinter Twin.

In other news, I'm up for EDH if we have anyone interested.

@Count Dorku: Yeah, but it would just be a three-mana Disperse if there aren't any suspend cards.

I guess it is.
