They can suck. They can also be really good.

Not inherently.

Sometimes they even encourage mixing them.

Really, feasibility depends on the cards you want to put in it.

The "Apocalypse" set was entirely focused on enemy color combinations, which resulted in lovely cards like Spiritmonger and Mystic Snake. Aside from that, half the guilds in Ravnica are built around enemy colors, and Scars block makes green-black rather appealing.

Also, the first deck I ever really played was a white/black deck themed around the en-Kor.

They also seem to be trying to push Boros with NPH: see also, Jor Kadeen.

Enemy color decks are often strong; blue/green in particular has a history of tournament wins. Like any color combination, it depends on how you build it.

If it's a question you have to ask, the answer is no. Of all the ways to go about making an effective deck, making a rule to avoid using enemy colors is not one of them.

There's quite a few modern enemy colored decks that are quite powerful. This year, red-white aggro is doing reasonably well, considering the giant mindsculptor in the room. Pyromancer Ascension+Time Warp was one of the decks to beat for the three months it was viable last year, and Splinter Twin+Deceiver Exarch (also UR) looks like it'll do the same this year once NPH comes out.

BW Dead Guy Ale is a pretty strong deck in Legacy, and you'll also find a lot of enemy wedge decks like Standard's RUG Control or Team America in Legacy. There's quite a few tournament databases full of decklists, so go do some research if you're interested ^_^

If I have anything to say about it, R Uwg Kiln Fiend will be the deck to beat for standard! Of course, I won't.

I believe the thing that matters is what each color's role within the deck is, and whether you can handle the mana base. Enemy-colored lands aren't very common.

Boros, for instance, uses red for removal and fast starts and white for late-game control.

Unfortunately, blue decks that use Jace are damn near omnipresient at the venue I go to FNM for. The clientele are highly competitive.

Things like Cawblade (squadron hawks/swords/stoneforge mystic) or Valakut are also very common, as I hear it.

might want to see if they'll set up a casual night or something for the less competitive players.

Yeah, my local store gave up on Standard FN Ms a long time ago. We're always drafting now.

Over here we have two main stores. One does Thursday night drafts and Standard FNM, and the other does the reverse. It works out pretty well, I guess.

Fifthman, is that because the standard games were too predictable?

It's more because the people who didn't have tier 1 decks get stomped by those who did. Someone always brings a deck from a premier top 8, and many of the players there can't afford it. It's more of a money issue than a predictability issue. Besides, the store makes more money from draft than they do from FNM entry fees.

So I was playing a mono-blue artifact deck in EDH today, and I played shape anew on a darksteel citidel to get...

...Why would you run artilands in a deck with Shape Anew?

I mean, I get that it's EDH and you only have one Shape Anew and it's not your whole strategy, but that's some pretty obvious antisynegrgy there.

[up][up][up] Epic Fail is right, dude.

I once had a U/W deck play Shape Anew on my Blightsteel Colossus, transforming it into a.... Blightsteel Colossus.

Hilarity ensued.

Shape Anew your Darksteel Citadel into a Blightsteel?

EDIT: Or, the douche version: use Memnarch to turn someone else's creatures/lands/whatever into artifacts, take control of them, and Shape those.
