Yeah, that one always bugged me. It would've worked just fine given text similar to Fumiko the Lowblood
. It's especially annoying because they've basically made it so they can't do bloodthirst X for any other meaning of X.
Hey guys, I just went to my local card shop and bought the Scorch the world with Dragonfire
Archenemy set and the Knights vs. Dragons
Duel decks, and threw together a Karrthus EDH deck with the spare cards I have lying around.
Here's the thread
on MTGSalvation if anyone wants to suggest additions/removals or otherwise help with tweaking the deck.

Why I am afraid of fences.Burn spells tend to lose a lot of their effectiveness in EDH. Stuff like Fireball can be good, and Earthquake is great, but I don't think you'll want Lightning Bolt or Burst Lightning unless you can't find anything that works as a better threat. Seething Song is pretty bad for EDH. You'd need a much better deal before trading card advantage for tempo is worth it.
Granted, I haven't seen all the cards, so there might be interactions I'm missing.
Hmm, if you're playing with fatties, maybe you could toss in a Tainted Strike
? You still only need 10 poison counters for a kill, and it shouldn't be too unlikely for you to get an unblocked creature swinging for 9. Fling
might work as a substitute for your minor burn. It can be a loss of card advantage, but it can really do some damage and you could just use your general and summon it again. Or maybe Assault Strobe
or Double Cleave
would be better? Oh, and since you have some disenchant cards, you should really use Slice in Twain
. Cantrips are generally worth the additional mana cost in EDH. Creeping Corrosion
could be a good way to wreck combos and get card advantage, especially if you;re light on artifacts. Shatterstorm
and Shattering Spree
can also work if you can find them.
If you want to spend a little more, Krosan Grip
is probably the best disenchant for EDH, and I've heard people say it's practically a necessity for them to use a Sol Ring in their decks.
Heh. Someone on Gatherer came up with the greatest New Tezz combo.
Liquimetal Coating + his -1 ability + Enchanted Evening + Runed Stalactite + Life and Limb + Rimefeather Owl.

I guess it is.Neurok Transmuter
+ March of the Machines
. It'll actually be blue rather than colourless, though.
...huh, so it does.
This makes me want to make a blue deck that makes all its permanents typeless. The only benefit I can really see to this would be that shit would get really difficult to target.
"Destroy target artif- wait, damn."
"Destroy target nonblack creature! Wait, it's not a creature any more."\\
if Sam Vimes were a planeswalker he would always and forever be my general.
"Coffee! Coffeecoffeecoffee! Coffee! Not as strong as Meth-amphetamine, but it lets you keep your teeth!"So is it just me, or is Standard basically its own, completely insane game that kind of sucks a lot of the joy of constructing a deck out of the game? Or am I just an inveterate Timmy type who can't stand hard agro and other such Boring, but Practical mechanisms?
(A friend of mine who is a bit of a Magic prima donna told me that I would have to pay him to play my Battle Cry deck in Standard, because it would just be a waste of his time since my deck would clearly never stand a chance against the current Standard decks dominant.)

There's other formats that are fun and aren't like Standard.
Elder Dragon Highlander/Commander in particular is designed to appeal to Timmies, and is rarely ever competitive. And there's always good old limited, where you construct a deck on the fly. Just playing casually is always an option too.
I don't see what's wrong with entering an Friday Night Magic tourney with a metalcraft deck; sure, you'll lose most likely, but you'll also have fun and you might get some helpful tips on how to improve it. Unless your scene is very competitive (AKA Jace the Mindsculptor playsets), in which case I'd suggest staying out.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.

I was going to say that Haste and Bloodthirst seems slightly "unfun" to me, but it occurs to me that you'd still get to have your murdercake and murdereat it too if you send a bolt to their dome pre-combat.
Speaking of which, does the formatting of this card
irk anyone else a little? Given the way Bloodthirst works, it really should be "Bloodthirst X, where X is the amount of damage dealt to your opponents this turn", instead of defining it in the reminder text. </magicpedant>
