[up] I have never heard of that card before today.

I find because if Kaalia reaches 8 mana and more to cost, it's better to just hard cast from that point on. My playgroup is also very conservative in their creature playing tendencies. Very few creatures die because so few are played.

That's why I won't run that black market

Also, I only run Bojuka Bog as GY hate since only Mimeo really exploits GY shenanigans in my playgroup. I guess I could use one more, but dedicating an extra card slot...

I think I need a lot more time to think about this. Perhaps I may need to cut one of my wraths for GY hate. I'm running plenty.

[up][up]Shame on you, Dorku tongue That card basically cuts general recast costs in half, and whenever anything else dies, you gain even more.

[up] Ever tried Cryptic Gateway? With AVR, there are a couple of low-CMC Demons and Angels around, plus M13 will have a neat CMC 1 Dragon.

On GY hate: I've always been a big fan of Shred Memory: it's an instant, so you can respond to the 'Plasm's casting, plus if you don't need it, you can transmute it for something more useful. Relic of Progenitus is also very good, if a little more drastic.

I make sure that every black EDH I build contains Bojuka Bog.

Ooh shred memory seems good. And I can transmute it for Demonic Tutor!

Hey, where was that random EDH deck generator?

Someone please link me to this.

Not saying that the Bog is a bad card, but these days, most players with a GY-centric strategy have learned how to play around it. I'd much rather use instants or continuous effects (like Leyline of the Void or Yixlid Jailer). Unless, of course, you have Sakura-Tribe Scout or Walking Atlas, in which case Bog out of nowhere is surprisingly effective.

I'm a fan of Shred Memory in Dralnu, mostly because it's pretty much just 1BB, tutor for Lightning Greaves or Exsanguinate and then I can flash it back for the gravehate.

I guess it is.

[up][up] Thing is that I don't have those, and they'd take up space that could be used for other stuff. Bog is virtually uncounterable and can be substituted for a Swamp with a minimum of fuss.

My Kaalia deck uses Quicksilver Amulet as a backup.

Battle of Wits is like the only alternate win condition card that actually saw play outside of casual (Finkel used and did well with it). It's also just hilarious that it exists. Good to see it back.

Kinda tempted to try and win with it should I open it at the prerelease.

I'm wanting to try Rhox Faithmender with Chalice of Life now. If only they'd reprint Cradle of Vitality.

Oh MTGS. Their first reactions to a fun build-around card like Battle of Wits getting reprinted is:

"...No.

No.

No. No No No No No. No no no no no no no no no! Oh goodness no..."

and "Well whatever. Everyone knows this set is for casual players anyways. God knows I wouldn't buy any of it."

Because Magic isn't about fun, it's about winning. Winning is fun. Losing is not. Therefore any card that doesn't let you win isn't fun.

But Battle of Wits has "you win the game" right on it! That's the most "letting you win" a card can get! tongue

Yeah, but it won't let you win turn one. Or sooner.

If it doesn't do that, what good is it?

[up]X4: I like how they're not just disgusted, but thoroughly disgusted. At least they're putting some effort into their hate grin

I found Finkel's BoW decklist. Kinda funny to see that big hulk amidst all those 60-card decks. Also, how in the hell do you even sideboard with that monstrosity?
