Just post whatever comes to mind.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.
If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.
Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

Communism isn't a psychological system anyway, it's an economic system. One of the ways of distributing goods among people...
Psychological systems are things like individualism, hive minds...uhhh, astrology...
The ways that people are lead to think. What controls their actions.
@226281: That's true, but I think a lot of innovation is driven by competition. One person/country/civilization wants to outcompete the other, so there's a lot more pressure to innovate to be better off. If everyone thought exactly the same way, there wouldn't be any such impetus. Of course, if everyone was exactly the same, they could all still innovate, but I don't think they'd innovate as much.
Plus, the beauty of having everyone be different, with different ideas and perspectives, is the fact that one person could think of ideas completely different from another person, which would increase the potential for innovation. The reason why two heads are better than one is because one head could see ideas that the other would miss, simply because they have a different perspective.

When we're done, there won't be anything left.Sure. Though competition is naturally detrimental to the loser. You try to be better than your neighbor and you disadvantage them (or kill them), and then there's bitterness that swells in their children, and that builds into feuds.
Insects are so plentiful because they work for the benefit of their colonies. They're small on their own, but they work together with singular thoughts in mind and spread everywhere.
Humans are lucky because we're so smart and there aren't any predators that can outpace us, but we're still self-destructive. Cultural differences may be variating, but they're still divisive.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayKey, sadness isn't a bad thing, because it contrasts with happiness. If no one ever loses or fucks up, they never learn, and when they're happy (if they're happy) it won't feel as special.
And if we were a hive mind, I know I'd have no reason to enjoy life, because everything in life I love comes from individuality and the differences between us.
All being the same person isn't good, its torture. It gets rid of what makes life special.
I'd rather be stuck with nothing but my uniqueness than be successful with nothing to make myself special.
It's moments like these that remind me of why I am so glad that one day we will all be dead, and all the stars will die, and the universe will be reduced to a husk incapable of any life.
I have to return some videotapes. My WallHm. Personally, I don't really get that much on the emotional spectrum, but I can see why one'd love being unique, and superior in their own respect.
Yeah, this conversation's getting a little too deep for me, and if I say anything else, I'm likely to sound like a Nilhist.
So instead, I shall talk about how my school day sucks! I wish it was still snowing.
And yeah, everyone's going to die, eventually. That's why one does something famous or infamous to get remembered.

I really couldn't care less about those people, as they don't escape the point I was making.
This is the stuff I live for. Deep, irregular discussion.
@smoke Right, a lot of people would rather be free and unhappy than a slave to happiness. Unless they're already a slave, in which case they can't think any differently.
@vlk And yes. Death IS the great equalizer. I take solace in knowing that the universe will even out to the same colorless emptiness that we all won't feel.
@Writer Yeah, I wish it was snowing too. Maybe our minds are already a little more connected than they seem. ;p

I have to return some videotapes. My WallNo, you don't share my sentiment because the motivation, understanding and expression is completely different. You agree with a form of what I said. That's not the same as sharing a sentiment because it's not the same sentiment.

Not apathy at all. Nor solace.
In fact, you're assuming my statement even had anything to do with this conversation and instead wasn't just...a random thought.

I have to return some videotapes. My Wall

But that's because those people aren't operating with one mind anyway. It's a few people with power forcing everybody else to be equal underneath them, and everyone is still an individualistic thinker.
Ech, it's one of those things I'd like to experiment myself if it wasn't so unethical. ;p
