Just post whatever comes to mind.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.
If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.
Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

I just realized why the sterotypical portrayal of aliens in fiction
me so much:
It's because they're based directly off of European imperialists. It's as if we automatically assume that any species, on encountering a new culture, will automatically make fun of the primitive apes and try to dominate them and steal their resources.

Novel progress: The Adroan, 110k; Yume no Hime, 98k; The Pigeon Witch, on pause at 40k.That's a little presumptuous. European imperialism would be an improbably specific model to begin with; plenty of cultures have been similarly empire-minded throughout history.
At any rate, this trope generally confines itself to film; where's the visual spectacle in a film about aliens peacefully coexisting with us? And exceptions exist: ET, My Favorite Martian, Alf... In other forms of media, they're usually malevolent, but it seems to be closer to a 60/40 ratio.

Yup. They're cooler than the Twilight Zone aliens.

Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered! If by "cooler" you mean a nigh-unstoppable being capable of raining fire down from the heavens and reshaping the landscape without fear of retribution.
Or Kilowogg. He's fucking awesome!

He only does that to the bad guys.
Contrariwise, in "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street," the aliens were going to Take Over the World by tricking everybody into becoming paranoid killing machines. And then in "To Serve Man," the aliens at first looked like they wanted to help us, but instead they wanted to eat us.
Yeah, nice going, Twilight Zone aliens. You just created the Imperium of Man.

Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!I'm gonna be honest, I like the movie version of Run and Tell That (aside from Inez not complaining about how racist Corny Collins is) better than the original Broadway version.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I don't believe it's "improbably specific," simply because until very recently, the overwhelming majority of sci-fi writers were white males. The demographics are evening as it gets more popular, but most still are.
And it's human nature to draw from your own culture's history and experiences.
Also, I said that's "the stereotypical portrayal." Not "every single portrayal."

Novel progress: The Adroan, 110k; Yume no Hime, 98k; The Pigeon Witch, on pause at 40k.That's true. Dragon Age did an especially good job of that.
Man, I love RWBY. It has been so long since I have been this enthusiastic about any series.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.Personally? I love it. Monty Oum's animation combined with Rooster Teeth's sense of humor (although G-rated) makes one of the best action comedy series I've seen in a long time. The characters are very likable, there are full of cute moments, and the action scenes are, well, Monty.
Yeah, the first episode isn't too impressive. It's usually around ep 8 where people are finally convinced. Do note that due to episode length, watching up to ep 8 will barely take an hour.

Dragon Riders is canceled and Team Dragon Rise is disbanded. I'm a failure as an administrator of two forums.

This Recently Married Man Just Realized Marriage Is Not For Him
Saw this on my Facebook feed a while ago and I thought that realization that it had something to do with a descent towards asexuality (or aromanticism if y'all wanna be specific), if that's even possible. Turns out that I misunderstood the title. Man, the English language could be really confusing at times.
