Just post whatever comes to mind.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.
If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.
Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

Does this make any of you laugh?
Aw, but that wouldn't fit the story! Unless you meant... Nah, that don't fit either.
Oh well, it doesn't have to be funny. I just couldn't take a backstory like that seriously, myself.
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am...When I was two, I had pneumonia.
When I was three, I got the chicken pox.
When I was four, I fell down the stairs and broke six ribs.
When I was five, my uncle was decapitated by a watermelon.
When I was six, my parents hit me in the head with a shovel.
When I was seven, I lost my index finger to me pet rat.
When I was eight, my dog Spike got hit by a tractor.
When I was nine, my mother lost her arm to a rabid Brahmin.
When I was ten, my sister was torn to bits by a pack of dogs.
When I was eleven, my grandfather killed himself because I was ugly.
When I was twelve, my grandmother killed herself because I was ugly.
When I was thirteen, my father poked out his eyes with a pitchfork in a drunken stupor.
When I was fourteen, my brother lost his hand to a wallaby.
When I was fifteen, my aunt choked to death on a chicken bone.
When I was sixteen, I lost my cousin to a badger.
When I was seventeen, I cut off my left big toe with a hoe.
When I was eighteen, my father lost his right leg to the same tractor that killed my dog.
When I was nineteen..."

I won't make myself angry, since I'm actually in a pretty good mood right now, which is something nice, for sure.
You know what really grinds my gears? Going through this.
Them: oh my gooood i cant sleep/i can't sleep and now i'm up at X in the morning oh my gosh this sucksss/etc.
Me: Darn, that does suck. What have you done?
T: What?
M: To sleep.
T: Nothing.
M: …What.
Every, damn, time.
I want to help you people that do nothing to help yourselves, with something that's perfectly manageable, but every time I see this I wonder why I keep trying. Wait no I don't, it's because I like helping, and all that jazz. But seriously people? You have the entire freaking internet at your disposal. What do you do? You whine about it often, you do nothing to help yourself, and let the problem grow. What, just because school or family isn't trying to get you to do something? That's no excuse to pick yourself up and go try and find something that relates to your sleeping problem(s), or search it on the web. If it really is that big of a problem then do something about it, or I will show no damn pity for you when you continue to whine and whine about it. And if it's not? Then shut your mouth already! And don't get mad when I state my opinion plainly and without malie about you not doing any of this for yourself, that's just plain silly. Also, for the record, when I ask you why not, saying, "because im to lazy lol" is not the right answer. Even being too "busy" to do a quick five second search would be better, because people are often pretty busy I'm assuming but it's not that hard! You don't look cool, you don't look like someone who is too awesome for what appears to be a problem, you don't look like any of that. You look freaking lazy for crying out loud, which you are. Now, you actually want me to help? Then listen to what I say, to what I have recommended whenever any of you all start complaining. There's stuff you can do, it's a couple second of typing and clicking, maybe even copying and pasting for later, though memorization would of course be better.
- 1: Solve anything that may you can that may be stressing you out. No doubt in my mind that stressing and worrying about what will be coming to you the next day can really send the brain and emotions flying. Calm down. Relax. Do what you can. Think. Try to accomplish what you can, if it's reasonably possible, and then return back to bed. It just might help.
- 2: Warm milk. Yeah, all that stuff you had when you were a wee lil baby. Take a glass, small, tall, whatever. Fill it up, and heat it up for the appropriate amount of time. The chemicals from the tryptophan
* are what's causing the drowsiness, which while I'm on the topic of things with tryptophan you have: Turkey* , Starches and carbohydrate-based foods like buckwheat
, and chicken, peanuts, shrimp, and various fish
. Yes I know that's Yahoo Answers, check it out anyway, look at stuff from there.
- 3: Several of the foods I actually mentioned in #2, but moving on anyway: Honey. Especially with warm milk. This I actually know from trying it out fairly consistently over the past few months. Regardless, Honey
can
possibly
help you
get to sleep
.
- 4: Caffeine, and various other sugars like chocolate
are a no-go, which I'm sure many people are familiar with the effects of caffeine and don't need it to be restated.
- 5: Meditation. I can't actually vouch for this. Apparently
it could help, if done right
, though
.
- 6: Sex. Just sayin'. Here's
some
science
behind (10)
it
.
- 7: Tea. Apparently some kinds are like chocolate, others have more positive effects. Here's
information
on it though
. Plus something
I found along the way, this too
.
- 8: Washing up in the shower or bath for some time can
help
you
sleep
. Also found this right here
. Massages would help
out
too
.
- 9: Exercise. Of course. Look
right
here
and
here
.
Now, obviously, some things just won't work. Some people need to watch their sugar intake, others may not like the texture or taste, yes, that is reasonable, but if it could help, chances are it'd be worth overcoming that. And yes, there's insomnia, and all that, I have taken that into account too, but that's no excuse, if it really is that bad of a problem, not to check out the ideas previously mentioned. Failing that, go see a doctor or something, dang it. You'll be helping yourself in the end.
This was aimed at no one in particular, I just wanted somewhere to put my thoughts regarding my experiences with trouble sleeping and interacting with others who have. For the record, the milk, honey, bath, various breathing and calming exercises, and anxiety parts mentioned here have worked for me at least. Now I'm just rambling. I'm sure there's more, but there's 9 possible things to help.
That one's kinda weird for me, I've had it go both ways.
I think the best way to make yourself feel tired is to give yourself some sort of assignment or impending deadline ^__^;. Seriously I never feel tired when I'm goofing off, but I always feel tired when doing work.
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am...I see someone playing Metal Slug 3. They're about 3 stages out of 5 into this horrible nightmare.
http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.com@Setanta All the people who told me that the rumors about college were exaggerated lied.
What lies they be?
...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura ChifuyuSo, whenever I read a link leading to "True Companions", I immediately read it as 'Brave Companions'.
"Stealing is a crime and drugs is a crime too BUT if you steal drugs the two crimes cancel out and it’s like basically doing a good."So I had a dream in which I was heading a small committee in charge of removing children from abusive parents.
During an investigation in which one mother was physically removing blood sugar from her daughters in the form of tablets as her idea of punishment, a group of maimed guys came in, saying they were asking for me because they had "Viking-related injuries".

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.

They lied. Every single one of them lied.
