Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

Hey, bitch, English isn't prescriptivist. You know nothing about how language works. Shut the fuck up.

This is obviously not directed towards anyone here.

I hate English Nazis because twice an English Nazi has offended Aigle over her broken but COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDABLE ENGLISH.

(Aigle talk like this. Aigle understandable enough for Internet, so people not complain about way Aigle speaks.)

If Corpus Christi, the band, got a bettter screamer, they'd probably be my favourite Christian metalcore band.

I wonder just how common incest is.

It's a frequent stereotype when dealing with people who live way out in the country, but just how much truth is in it?

And why wouldn't it occur in more urban areas as well.

You could argue the whole "family mentality" thing dissuades it, and that in the rural areas, lack of people leaves little other option, but in the present day, the ubiquity of transportation eliminates this problem.

I highly doubt that there are accurate studies of such a thing.

I always thought it was a Forest of Dean thing. Creator Provincialism talking, I suppose.

I don't know how true it is. Probably not very. It's not something I've ever asked a Forest of Dean person about, because, you can't, can you?

Bobby, you seem to have much resentment for the Forest of Dean. At least, you find it to be a very Acceptable Target.

Could you explain this to a Yank, like myself?

Some random site

Until the late 1970s and early 1980s, incest was believed to be exceedingly rare. It has proven difficult to accurately estimate the incidence (the number of incestuous cases that have occurred over a period of time) and prevalence(the number of people who have been victims during their lives) of incestuous abuse. There are many reasons why it is difficult to obtain accurate estimates. These include difficulties in defining incest (some definitions list only sexual intercourse as incestuous abuse, while others include other types of sexual contact). In addition, many victims of incest may fail to report the act a tendency that incest shares with rape. However, various studies place the percentage of incest victims in the general population of America at about10 to 20 million. Among the reported victims of incest, girls outnumber boys by approximately ten to one; however the number of boys abused may be underreported.

I don't resent the Forest. Heck, I used to have relatives there (they were not, to my knowledge, incestuous).

The stereotype around these parts is that people from the Forest are backwards hicks, moreso than everyone else in the county. Most of them live in small, insular towns, and the older folk speak in a rather funny dialect and with a much stronger accent than anyone else around here.

And yeah, in the rest of Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean residents are Acceptable Targets. The usual joke is that they have webbed feet. I know I've joked about that kind of thing once or twice, and I probably shouldn't, but eh, there's nobody from the Forest on these forums.

I wasn't being mean just now, though; they really are supposed to be incestuous, or at least inbred. Like I say, probably not much truth in that, really.

Yeah "resent" wasn't really the word I was looking for. I apologise.

Anyway, if I said anything more I'd be preaching, so instead I will say something irrelevant: "Hero of War" from Rise Against is a little fucked up.

Oh, also, I hate the Slippery Slope fallacy.

Preaching? Oh dear.

Yeah, I know it's bad to treat people as Acceptable Targets. To be honest, it's a style of humour I like far too much, but it's difficult to make those kinds of jokes without causing offence. In that regard, the Forest is a reasonably safe bet compared to picking on a subculture or nationality.

But I don't mean any of it. Given that I'm from a pretty rural area myself and that to a Londoner I'd probably be indistinguishable from a Forester anyway, it's all a bit silly.

If anyone is from the Forest of Dean here, and has been offended by anything I've said, I am sorry.

Also, why do people think that just because, in their belief systems, God created the universe, that he is omnipotent? I mean, people create things all the time and that doesn't give them utter control over what happens with and to their creation.

I fail to see the equivalence between those acts of creation and the creation of the universe.

'Tis a matter of scale, but I see your point.

I still can't understand why creating the universe would give one utter control of and power over everything that happens in it, but I'm gonna assume that that's one of those ideas I'll never really be able to comprehend.

Well, the metaphysics aren't really fully fleshed out. Some say the universe is being created and destroyed every moment to, others that the universe and everything in it has No Ontological Inertia and must be willed to continue to exist.
