Just post whatever comes to mind.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.
If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.
Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

"*munch* Hey, Hilarion, this tastes pretty good."
"WHAAAAT? You were supposed to be gagging! You should have vomited twice over! Ugh, this is the worst prank ever. I guess I'll just take this back to my brother, Pi. He loves weird foods."
you'll then have a grave in the clouds where you won't lie too crampedSomebody (I forget who) once did this experiment on orphaned baby rhesus monkeys in which they gave them dolls for surrogate mothers. One doll was essentially a wire model with a milk bottle in it, while the other was made of soft terrycloth but had no nourishment. The experimenter discovered that despite the fact that the wire doll had the food, the monkeys preferred to spend their days snuggling with the terrycloth doll.
Apparently humans do the same sort of thing. When given the choice, they will go after the stimulus that makes them more comfortable (TV) rather than the stimulus they actually need to survive (food).
Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.oooh, neat article.
^I remember that experiment, but all I can remember is that the experimenter was a really fucked up dude, if it's what I'm thinking of.

[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.If I recall correctly, the same experimentor also established that most of the ones that got the food-and-wire-mother exclusively ended up growing up into what was essentially the simian equivalent of sociopaths.

The Philosopher-King Paradox- Harry Harlow was the guy that did it.
- The monkeys weren't orphaned but taken from their mothers.
- The monkeys who had the cloth doll were healthier than the ones who had the wire doll.
The guy did a lot of messed up things to baby monkeys: raising them in isolation, putting them in rape machines, and the Pit of Despair
.
He wasn't the worst though, definitely not the worst. Much earlier in the century there was this guy who classically conditioned a human baby to be afraid of rats by tormenting him with loud noises every time he approached a rat.

Sociopathy: Because ethics can be so troublesome when you're studying humans.
^^Skinner I think.

What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.No, Skinner was the guy who used operant conditioning to train animals in cages to do funny things like play the piano and do backflips.
Yep, Watson was the guy who tormented poor little "Albert".
