Just post whatever comes to mind.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.
If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.
Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

@Landy - yeah, that can be a little exasperating at times
However, if people are posting Nobuo Uematsu or Akira Yamaoka then that is absolutely fine by me. Or the Tower of Heaven soundtrack.
I have to confess my tastes are rather insular too. (swap out anime with Western Animation and you have me, mostly; my favorite groups as of now are The B-52's and ES Posthumus)

Tower of Heaven isn't an anime. Flashygoodness is American, even.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Well, this is a site about fiction, so it's not really surprising that a lot of people post soundtrack stuff. (I know I'm guilty of that a bit, but the majority of music I listen to isn't soundtrack music, for what it's worth.)
QFT.
What gets a little frustrating, though, is when different groups of people use labels differently, making it difficult to specify the kind of music you like.

. I've been here far too long, and I live in the vain hope I can convince someone here to check out something awesome I love.
I've always been fond of your off-the-beaten-path interest, AU, it makes me smile

Emperor Wu liked cake, but not exploding cake!I tend to just assume anime fandom is widespread on the Internet and leave it as that.
And I don't think I'm any more familiar with Western cartoons or games than Japanese ones, it's just that fans of the latter seem to be more common.
^ Recommend something awesome, and I'll add it to my to-watch list.

Emperor Wu liked cake, but not exploding cake!I know nothing about it, but OK.
Ooh, first episode is on YouTube. I'll watch it later today.
MAST3RLINKX's account got taken down so I was at a loose end, and I think I've probably watched enough Doctor Who reruns on iPlayer of late.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffLandy, if this really bothers you that much, you can very easily find another place where people do like the things you like, whatever that may be.
the problem with this is that it simply encourages simplemindedness. Why can't people link to western stuff as much as they link to Japanese stuff? It's not like it's impossible and you like a lot of western stuff yourself, Wicked. At least from what I've seen.
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.I assume most people here just like shows that happen to be anime. I haven't seen all that much "Japan = inherently superior" here, anyway, Dantes and Signed notwithstanding.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffI never got the internet's fixation with videogame OS Ts. I mean, only one out of ten of them are anything more than serviceable ambient stuff.
Kill all math nerdsMaybe it's because they aren't interested in Western stuff, and if they aren't, they shouldn't feel compelled to be so for the sake of the people who are?
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!Because that's not in their interests. You can encourage people all you want to watch stuff you like, but if you force it on them, you're not any better than the weaboo who won't watch dubbed anime because it's NOT TRUE TO THE JAPANESE ORIGINAL and thinks any non-anime is FOR KIDS. That sort of thing cuts both ways, you realize.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....![]()
Yeah I think most of them are on You Tube. One of the best episodes is Plan 9 From Mission Hill if it's up there.
Yes, that too. If all the people with non-standard interests leave, then this place just becomes more insular and insular!
Blargh ninjas.
Did I mention I hate snow with a bloody passion and I want it to die?

Emperor Wu liked cake, but not exploding cake!Nah, I don't think that the mentality here is Japan = inhenrently superior. I just think that people pay little attention to the west. Kinda like an inverse me. I don't think that West > East or viceversa, but I link more to western stuff. Although, I've been geting into anime more and more because lolthisplace.
Also, I'm starting to use lol way too much.

Genre-based classification is good at long as it's serving its purpose — to allow one to simply describe what a given band is like.
The point of those labels is to facilitate the transfer of information. The second it starts being about the labels themselves, though, they're no longer useful.
