If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.

Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

Another thing CA and I have in common: "omnipresent" usernames.

I keep thinking of me whenever I go to the Wayback Machine.

a comical composition depicting an American sailor wandering into the Singapore bar where "he finds Oriental honky-tonk jazz, booze and girls. Getting his fill of the first two, he leaves with the latter to seek further adventures."

@AU: What is meant by "omnipresent usernames", in this case?

Oh, right. I didn't think about that when I picked my name, but now I kinda like it (and, as a result, have started using it on other sites).

Apparently people like to group the ancient Slavics and Vikings together, which is weird because so far as I've seen, for the most part they only share the general European similarities, similarities in dress and Slavics apparently got some tips on ships from the Vikings.

Also the Varangians settled in the area and ruled and traded. And the said-to-be founder of the Rurik dynasty was a Norseman.

Yeah, there's definitely a big overlap of the Germanics/Scandies and the Slavics.

Doesn't necessarily make them the same people, though. There's still a deep and ancient split between those two cultural groups.

I wonder... you think Poland was in the overlap?

The West Slavs in general had already split from the rest of the others by that time.

Self-serve supermarket tills: The PERFECT aid to obtaining female clothing with limited prospects of embarrassment. And I might use them far more often anyway.

[up][up][up] Oooh, a discussion about the Varangians. I'm studying Medieval Russia, this is the first topic on the matter.

Scandinavians traversed as far as Kiev using longboats. It remains unexplained how they became the leaders of the Slavs, but it was probably subjugation.

As elitist as the shmup fanbase can be at times, I will say one positive thing about them:

They don't engage in Ship-to-Ship Combat. They engage in the other kind of ship-to-ship combat ;)

Somewhere, there's a real-life equivalent of Al Bundy, and every night, he cries himself to sleep at the thought that millions of people around the nation amused themselves with the torment that he has to deal with.

I liked his Metroid Fusion LP, although I've played that game so many times that watching somone struggle through it was painful at times.

Ozymandias smiled his smugly pleased smile and clicked a hidden switch on his costume. The whole thing folded away like an origami puzzle. Underneath was an Armani suit, just this side of fashionably rumpled. The mask came off with a solution spray and Adrian collected the neat pile of clothes.
