If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.

Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

What does a mod hat look like?

Note to people in Endless Tower of Boss Battles: making a ridiculously overpowered boss only encourages people to come up with an anticlimactic Ass Pull of a resolution. Sure, that kind of thing is used plenty of children's and teen's stories such as Shōnen anime, but that doesn't make it any less lame.

Whenever Madrugada says "Mod hat ON", I imagine her pulling a State Trooper's hat out of Hammerspace, placing it on her head long enough to blow a whistle and reprimand somebody, then taking it off and returning it to hammerspace.

Which is weird, because I'm not even sure what my mental image of Madrugada looks like.

^ You really should go see someone about that

^^ Now that I really think about it, I either get a really big horned helmet (like Garland's in Dissidia) or a Keystone Kop hat

Never seen this before. Anyone know how you do it or why it's sometimes used instead of normal thumping?

I was wondering about that, too. I've seen it only once before.

Here, to be exact.

What purpose would that serve over a regular thump-edit?

Someone quote this post so Tzetze can see it.

I took off the block a while ago, man.

Might be an automatic response. That post used to involve calling Shale a "retard".

I guess it would be a mod thump, for when mods want a comment out but still want people to know that someone said something really stupid

@yarrun: I'm still not sure why you'd need to use that instead of just a regular thump plus mod warning. It seems slightly unnecessary.

You know, the thumped thing might be an improvement if it helps differentiate mod-thumps from self-thumps.

^^ That becomes a plot point in Foundation And Earth, if memory serves...

Of course you would have a Wikidot account.
That's no secret, I link to it on my userpage...

I'm not overly concerned about my personal online security, since I have about six or seven different screennames, most of which aren't connected to each other... although I know I've referred to at least two on this forum.

I thought it worked all right as a setting premise.

...

I am now thinking about how much better the trilogy would have been if Seldon was wrong because aliens invaded from another galaxy instead of because random mutation produced an irresistible empath.

Well, I thought of that because of Asimov's entry on Starfish Aliens. I didn't realize that he did that, beyond the three-gendered whatever they ares.

Wouldn't aliens coming from another galaxy fucking up prophecies make it the Star Wars Expanded Universe? [1]

Foundation didn't have aliens because John W Campbell wanted stories about humans defeating aliens and Asimov didn't, so he got off on a technicality by not having aliens.
