Eggnog and rum is awesome. Being lightly drunk is also awesome.

Just split a bottle of mead with my girlfriend, and realized how much I missed the stuff.

Due to inherent genetic predisposition, I enjoy good beer. (Read: I'm German)

However, I also very much appreciate:

A good vodka, preferably ice-cold and straight.

Rum. There are a few brands from South America that are absolutely wonderful, among them Ron Zacapa. Bundaberg Rum must also be mentioned, because, well, one can't have lived in Queensland and not enjoy the stuff.

And maybe a Clynelish, Talisker, or Balvenie.

Mix-drinks (i.e. rum/coke or vodka/Red Bull) are not among the things I will consume. But bartending experience has also led to a liking of good cocktails.

Balvenie is one of my favorite scotches. Right behind Glenmorangie 18 year, or a good Macallan.

Then you, sir, have good taste. It's dad's fault that I enjoy single malts, at one point we used to have roughly 25 different brands in our home.

I'd raise a toast but it's 5 in the morning and I'm about to sleep.

I'll raise a toast.

Unfortunately it is Wild Turkey, did I mention I'm also a bourbon fan in my spare time?

but seriously; bourbon can be just as satisfying as single malt. Where I come from (Pacific Northwestern USA) Scotch can be seriously pricey, and a good bourbon hits the old taste buds just as well and costs far less in the bargain.

My favorites: Knob Creek, Booker's, Elijah Craig, Evan Williams and Bulleit's Frontier Whiskey.

My brother collects some fine small batch bourbon. And it completely blew me away when I tried it.

@blackcat: not surprised, bourbon can be as mind-blowing as the finest single malt. I wish I lived closer to the source so that I could sample the truly "small batch" bourbons that no doubt exist.

I've drunk, but I didn't have enough to get drunk (heavyweight~~~~~). I'm only 15. Can I join?

A few days ago I had alcohol-ized eggnog for the first time (how does one distinguish that?), and although it was too strong for me, I'm now drinking nonalcoholic eggnog and thinking, "this needs some alcohol."

Or something. This is pretty much sweet cream.

Egg Nog is so heavy it can do with being cut.

Well tonight I start a 15 page analytical paper. This leaves me with the tough decision: I'm almost out of whiskey having nursed my bottle of Bushmills for over a month now, and while a research paper can be written on wine clearly that's not the case for a 15 page lit review. So fellow tropers weigh in:

  • Scotch
  • Whiskey
  • Pyrat (rum)

Assuming it's Jameson, go whiskey.

Actually it'd probably be Bushmills, I'm suddenly flush with cash too so I might go black bush depending on price.
