According to my roommate last night:

"The only "man drink" that belongs in that glass is a Manhattan; or a shaken vodka martini if your James Bond.If your drink is at all red, pink, purple, or any other color in the pride flag, then your a bitch."

Well my underage drinking was clandestine because I didn't want both the MIP charge and fine associated. Trying to get into the military and I'd rather my record not have misdemeanors on it.

Anyway, so tomorrow the 18th I shall be 21. So, might anyone here be kind enough to recommend some good drinks/liquor brands? I've developed a love of Southern Comfort, but I would like to try other drinks. I'm open to both beers and hard liquors.

Not too fond of tequila, as I don't like the taste, but after a couple shots it because less of an issue.

Jameson, Guiness, Newcastle brown ale, Appleton Estate rum, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum (what?!)

[up][up] Glenmorangie 12 year old single malt scotch for hard liquor, it was my gateway into the wonderful world of whisky. Also, try Disaronno Amaretto for something a bit sweeter and better for mixing. Beer-wise, Theakston's Old Peculier if you can find it (no, that's not a typo) - in fact any decent Porter or Stout would be a good idea. Guinness will do if you can't find anything better.

Indeed he does, if he's extolling the virtues of Glenmorangie. cool

For a 75cl bottle, it's £20-25, so... $30-35? Yes it's expensive stuff, but it should last you a while.

Oh, and happy 21st!

Well I'll have to pick some up this week.

Getting kind of tired of Captain Morgan. It isn't bad, but I'd like some variety.

Double post because I don't give a fuck.

So, yeah picked up a 6 pack of Arrogant Bastard. Not much for the aftertaste, but the initial taste is great.

And it apparently brings me luck as the day I cracked one open, I got my medical waiver for the Army approved.

Congrats on that. For whisky I'd second Jameson. Jim Bean is decent bourbon whisky. I drink Yuengling because it's relatively cheap for a decent taste. I like Hollande 1620 beer as well.

I dunno if any of you know of Dragonmead (small brewery in Warren, Michigan) but if you get the chance to try some of their Final Absolution beer, do it. Stuff is delicious.

In fact I may have one after this Arrogant Bastard.

I'd say Jameson.

On another note last night at the bar I discovered that jager bombs are quite tasty. That was a fun night, except for the chick I was hitting on turning out to be a lesbian. Pfft. Fuckin' weak, man.

Now I'm chilling with a bottle of Final Absolution. Delicious beer.

Leffe Brown, Sam Smith's Organic Best Ale, Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Ale, Glenfiddich 12 year old Single Malt and Jim Beam Bourbon. A good evening, all in all. Well, I say that, actually it's been a shitty evening but I've drowned my sorrows efficiently.

Well, I now believe I have beaten hangovers. I've gotten quite blasted three times this week, and have been hungover 0 times.

Tried Three Philosophers beer. Good beer, but didn't go well with what I was having for lunch.

I just found out I'm not big fan of Bombay sapphire, or at least, not when drinking it straight.

And I've found I can kill 1/3 of a bottle of whiskey myself and be fine the next day.

I'm on my way to my goal of being able to kill a whole bottle of whiskey in one sitting and be fine.

Ice? Pfft, I drinks it right outta the bottle.

I'm pretty much on my way to being a male version of Rose of Sharon Cassidy.

The +4 to DT from whiskey is nice, man.

I've been on a Smithwick's kick lately. I blame the song Delerium Tremens.

I am coming to the conclusion that I prefer Irish Whiskey over Scottish Whisky.

[up] Blasphemy! Nah, good Irish whisky is alright, but it's a lot lighter and softer than Scotch.

I am trying not to spend too much money on booze this week while I'm revising, and I've got lots of expensive events that I'll be attending in the next month or so. So no exciting drinks to report for me sad
