Sorry about no content, was sort of flagging. But, ideally, should all articles in the Main namespace have an image? I have been acting on the premise that they should, but it occurs to me, maybe not.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say no. No. Just... No in fact.

However that's just my opinion, if there is a policy about it I haven't seen it.

There's probably reasons for and against something like:

  • Pro: humans need images, speech bubbles make images work, and It'd be boring otherwise.
  • Con: bandwidth, impossible to capture in a image, Not Safe For <sanity, work, google>.

Yes, I realize that in practice, it may be difficult to pick a suitable image for some tropes (if they are very abstract, or fundamentally NSFW, or etc), but ideally / in theory: should all Main namespace articles have a page image?

There's no reason why any article automatically needs an image. That's completely made-up by someone.

They don't need images, it just helps most of the time. Most of the time a visual representation is a great assistance for explaining the trope.

Ideally? Yes, ideally, every page would have an appropriate and effective page image. We aren't dealing with "ideally" here. And since we aren't, the working policy is " 'no image' is better than 'a bad image' ".

  1. Does that mean there is no such thing as "no image on this article" / starting Image Pickin' conversations spam?
  2. Is the "Image Pickin' Discussion" banner on an article a problem? (That is, hypothetically, if it were there for a long time.)
  3. Is there a minimum / recommended amount of content in the OP of an Image Pickin' conversation?

If there is a good image, then it should be added. Pictures often help while explaining or, at least, tend to be amusing. Therefore one should not work to much effort into finding one, but every good one TV Tropes have is a good one. Mah humbla opinion. =)

I asked for (and got, he says thanks for asking btw) permission to use that image, from the artist. (It should link to kcgreendotcom.com/CC/comics/cc-tf22.gif, if used.)

Cropped to just one frame:

Scout rejects a shotgun or pistol in favor of a baseball bat.

Here's the version with three frames.

And here's a bigger version of the one frame.

If you want I can cut out all the black borders.

Edit: Whoops, missed [up].

It took me a little while because I had to figure it out in paint.net.

I think the single frame is stronger than a sequence. The last two frames don't add anything, imo.

[up][up] I use Fireworks, which is probably why mine had a little better resolution.

So...should I put up the image then, or what?

Added, but...

...oh, lol! "NOTE: This trope deals exclusively with video game situations where the computer is clearly outmatched but is unable to do anything but mindlessly attack; a number of perfectly good tropes, such as Attack Attack Attack and Bullying A Dragon, exist for characters in other media who perform acts like this." It doesn't represent the trope. Should I put it on AAA instead?

Oh. I had no idea this was just a video game trope.

To be honest, I don't know if this would fit on those other two, since Attack! Attack! Attack! doesn't necessarily imply the same kind of suicidal stupidity that the image shows, and it doesn't fit Bullying a Dragon at all.

We could MAYBE use this on here, since technically that situation IS happening in a video game, just not AI. Usually.

Also, we never agreed on which version to use. I much prefer the 3-frame version since it shows him getting ripped apart.

Well, since the Team Fortress 2 image went to Attack! Attack! Attack!...we still need an image for this.

I have a good idea for a Fire Emblem one; gimme a bit.
