Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. The Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard tropes aren't currently adding or removing examples. Wick changes and other minor corrections to the locked trope pages can be made via this thread, but more significant changes will be declined.
  9. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

Could the following be added to Fifty Shades of Grey:

  • Love Cannot Overcome: At the end of Fifty Shades of Grey, Ana confesses she's in love with Christian, but leaves him because she can't handle his more extreme sexual kinks. However, in the next book - Fifty Shades Darker, she quickly takes him back when he promises to work on himself.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • Anastasia, who (supposedly) brings Christian to a new and better life, has a name derived from a Greek word meaning "resurrection". She also doesn't like eating. Her nickname, Ana, is also a nickname for anorexia.
    • Christian's surname is "Grey," and is not supposed to be completely good or evil.
    • The villain from Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed is named Jack Hyde. He can appear to be a kind and good man at times while being a vicious and violent one on other occasions.
  • The Mentally Disturbed: Christian Grey has a number of psychological issues that he blames entirely on his dead mother (although she died when he was four and he was raised by a loving foster family after that), which include a violent personality, a desire to control everything in his life, freaking out when his chest is touched, hating blonde women (because he somehow was traumatized by a blonde policewoman carrying him away from his mother's body), and choosing young brunette women as submissives because they resemble his mother. These alternate between being treated by Ana as a series of endearing, if occasionally exasperating, quirks and being Played for Drama so Ana will treat him sympathetically. His therapist suggests to Ana that she's healing his issues simply with the Power of Love. Also, his love of BDSM and dislike of vanilla sex is treated as a symptom of how messed up he is.
  • Naughty Under the Table: In Fifty Shades of Grey, Christian tries to finger Ana while they are having dinner with his parents in his childhood home. Ana does not allow him, promptly removing his hand. Much to his ire.
  • P.O.V. Sequel: Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey As Told by Christian and Darker: Fifty Shades Darker As Told by Christian which tells the events of the first two books from Christian Grey's perspective.
  • Pizza Boy Special Delivery: Played straight in Fifty Shades of Grey, when Ana finds out how Christian ended up being taken as Elena Lincoln's submissive. When he was fifteen, he was hired to clear out some rubble as a way to fund his drinking habit and, after he insulted her, she hit him and then kissed him. This is despite the fact that the state of Washington has strict laws about solid waste disposal and Christian could not have been hired for the job without a permit.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Christian lapses into this when he gets upset, which is often. Also when he wants to sound commanding (and, well, dominant). It's described as his "staccato talking".
"You. Are. So. Sweet," he murmurs between each thrust. "I. Want. You. So. Much."
  • Questionable Consent: Ana is told that being Christian's sub is up to her and that she can negotiate the terms of their contract if she wishes. When she sends him an e-mail, joking that she wants their deal to be off (before she even signed the contract), Grey goes to her apartment, ties her to the bed, and rapes her until she changes her mind. Whenever she tries to renegotiate anything of the contract, he tries to talk her out of it.
  • Rejected Marriage Proposal: Downplayed in Fifty Shades Darker. Christian spontaneously proposes to Ana, but she says she needs time to think about it because they haven't known each other that long (about a month) and she's worried he's only proposing because she was considering leaving him, believing they're incompatible. Not long after though, she tells Christian she accepts and they announce they're engaged at his birthday party. Despite this, Christian still proposes to Ana 'properly' with a ring as well.

And on the same page can the current example for The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything be changed to a second-level bulletpoint, with this added underneath it as another second-level bulletpoint:

  • Despite the text telling us repeatedly that Ana is the most brilliant of commissioning editors who even worked on her honeymoon (something that never showed up in any of the honeymoon scenes) and that she had a knack for editing even when she was Jack Hyde's personal assistant (where the only things she did were filing and typing up one letter poorly), her "job" appears to consist of letting her personal assistant Hannah make plans and set up meetings for her, going to one meeting with her colleagues and bosses, talking about meeting in person with an author, and looking at the file of a manuscript for two seconds. At no point does she do anything that a commissioning editor would normally do in the course of business.

Something I want to update on The New Twenties page:

  • On May 22, 2020, a controversial security law was proposed in the National People's Congress that would allow the Chinese government to enforce their national security law in Hong Kong, thus allowing China to jail and arrest political dissidents and pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong. This has led to a second round of protests in Hong Kong (which were mostly dwindled due to the coronavirus pandemic) since the national security law would effectively undermine the "one country, two systems" agreement with United Kingdom. The national security bill was passed on May 28, 2020, and the United States government responded by removing its autonomy status of Hong Kong, thus potentially subject Hong Kong to economic sanctions and trade tariffs. The national security law was much stricter than expected, as it not only applies to Hong Kong residents, but also applies to foreign nationals outside of China and Hong Kong as well, meaning countries with extradition treaties with either China or Hong Kong may also be subjected to the said security law as well.

and

  • On June 15, 2020, a clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the disputed Line of Actual Control (LAC) border resulted 20 Indian soldiers killed. This is due to the deteriorating diplomatic relations between China and India and the increased militarization of the border. In response to the clash, the Indian government banned 59 Chinese apps, including Tiktok and WeChat, citing national security concerns.

Subtext should be removed from Locked Pages since it's not locked anymore. Funnily enough, Locked Pages says Subtext was "Locked to preserve the current formatting, as it was funnier that way," but ~Eievie, the troper who requested it be unlocked here, removed the formatting as soon after it was unlocked. I've since restored it. On the same page, under CN Real, change "live action" to "live-action".

Removed subtext from the locked pages list, re-locked Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom. I think we need discussion on the The New Twenties additions, as both additions seem like they are giving undue importance to events that are of minor relevance in the context of an article for an entire decade.

At Film O To S, Sha Po Lang II: A Time For Consequences has its own page.

At Dungeons & Dragons, for Kingdoms of Kalamar, the Matricide pothole for the final entry is screwy.

Please remove Mumm-Ra (He-Man/Thunder Cats) from DC Video Games.

Please replace the Thundercats entry at with:

  • ThunderCats franchise:
    • Dogs of War, by John Layman et al.: Doberlord is the evil leader of the Dogs of War and makes it his mission to rule the entire universe. Going from planet to planet, Doberlord makes a judgment about whether the planet's population is strong enough to become his slaves, or weak and should be destroyed. Doberlord repeated this process and enslaved several planets, and destroyed and committed genocide on others. Coming to New Thundera, Doberlord decides that the ThunderCats are worthy to become his slaves and, after razing the kingdom, threatens that if they don't surrender he will destroy their world. The incident causes Lion-O to form an uneasy alliance with his archenemy Mumm-Ra. Doberlord later defeats the ThunderCats and the Mutants and imprisons them in his dungeons and orders Lion-O tortured. When the Berbils, a race of small cyborg bears, surrender to him, Doberlord declares them worthless and sics his lizard men slaves to slaughter them all, knowing that the lizard men will be forever tormented by this action.
    • He-Man/ThunderCats:
      • Mumm-Ra is an evil servant of the Ancient Spirits of Evil who aided their attack on Eternia, leading many monsters to attack the great city of Eternos and personally impaling Prince Adam, sadistically mocking him. Joining forces with Skeletor, Mumm-Ra helped him enslave his former masters, making them spread death and destruction around the planet, openly sharing Skeletor's plan to conquer the world and transform it into a horrific place, where the opposition will be brutally executed and the rest of the population enslaved. Transforming with Skeletor into the powerful Mumm-Ator and trying to take over the multiverse, Mumm-Ra wanted to help Skeletor to create this future for the whole multiverse.
      • Skeletor is a vile warlock and the most relentless enemy of He-Man. Discovering the existence of another universe, Skeletor has made a contact with the Ancient Spirits of Evil, having them bring their world closer to Eternia, causing a cataclysm that destroyed part of the great city of Eternos, before he captured their agent Mumm-Ra and transformed him into a liquid, which he drank, despite Mumm-Ra still being alive and sapient. Later bringing Mumm-Ra back to his original form, Skeletor joined forces with him, enslaving the Ancient Spirits of Evil and having them spread chaos and destruction all over Eternia, killing thousands. Desiring to transform Eternia into a horrific place, where all those who oppose him will die and the rest of the population will be enslaved, Skeletor transformed himself and Mumm-Ra into Mumm-Ator, before he tried to take over the multiverse. Failing at that and being banished, Skeletor starts pretending to serve Darkseid and the brutal version of Superman, using them to get his way into Castle Grayskull again, while assisting Superman in upholding his tyrannical regime and revealing to Darkseid that the answer to Anti-Life Equation was always in Castle Grayskull, leading to Darkseid attacking Eternia, slaughtering thousands and brainwashing thousands more.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I have a page on the TLP called Bibble Bobble, that's designed to explain the bug with crowners where all the options go "test Bibble Bobble phlebotinum Looks like we've got redlinking working!"

It was suggested it was better suited for administrivia, but I want the message itself to be blueshifted so that people who stumble across the bug would have a better idea what it is and how to fix it, and not to have people spam Ask The Tropers about it all the time. Can you create the page in Administrivia.Bibble Bobble, and turn Main.Bibble Bobble into a redirect towards the former?
