Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. The Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard tropes aren't currently adding or removing examples. Wick changes and other minor corrections to the locked trope pages can be made via this thread, but more significant changes will be declined.
  9. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

Basically VideoGame.Kingdom Hearts III and every subpage.

Also lock literally every page listed in Characters.Kingdom Hearts. (I'd link them all but I'm out for the day.)

I don't know if any information has been posted to any Kingdom Hearts III page yet, but it should probably be taken as a precaution. I've already seen a few news articles on the subject, including one saying Reddit is taking down any spoilers and banning the offenders.

The fantasy RPG videos that play in my head are amazing.

I don't think anybody wants to find a spoiler in their watchlist feed, especially considering the game is a Grand Finale over a decade in the making. (II came out in 2006.)

I cutlisted YMMV.The Birth Of A Nation 1915 as it was a redirect with no wicks to YMMV.The Birth Of A Nation 1915 that could also refer to YMMV.The Birth Of A Nation 2016, but now I'm wondering if it was deliberately kept to preserve the history? Trivia. The Birth Of A Nation was cut after the move.

Got an example for ya for The Fundamentalist. Now I have yet to read the books as of yet to see how accurate it is but here's a write up for the series.

  • Melisandre/The Red Woman of Game of Thrones begins by using worship of her religion dedicated to "The Lord of Light" to sway Stannis' kingdom and armies to help him take the Iron Throne, burning crosses in his name and killing his and her political and religious opponents, before sleeping with Stannis as some dark ritual to create a demon to murder his brother Renley. She also purchases Gendry from fellow fundamentalists and fire worshipers The Brotherhood and tries to use him as a blood sacrifice. Believing the odds were good Stannis invades Kings Landing to take the crown by force.
    • After very nearly winning the battle of Blackwater before the massive loss of life and crushing defeat she ups the stakes and seeing the threat of the White Walkers tries to motivate a morose Stannis by actually burning heretics and naysayers on the cross, to the point of even convincing him and his wife to burn their own daughter alive. This is treated as a In-Universe Moral Event Horizon as Stannis' wife kills herself, most of his forces abandon him and the rest crushed, and he himself offers no resistance to Brienne killing him.
    • Even Melisandre has a crisis of faith and spends time wondering My God, What Have I Done? before trying to influence Jon Snow. She is fully certain that she will die in the wars to come and is prepared to sacrifice all to put a stop to the threat she sees. Her religion crops up about the place whether it be in other lands with other priestesses or Beric but they are all shown to be considerably more benign and benevolent that the Red Woman has shown to be.

I noticed that one of the entries on the Monster.Fan Works page is not organized correctly. Hongqi from Foxfire is placed in the middle of The Fall of the Fire Empire tree. Right now, it looks like this:

  • Avatar: The Last Airbender fanfiction The Fall of the Fire Empire:
    • We have an elderly Azula in a world where Ozai succeeded in conquering everyone. She finally hits her Villainous Breakdown with the realization that there is no way she can escape her impending death from old age, so she decides to go out in a blaze of glory, starting a war that will probably kill a good percentage of the world's population, and also set things up so that she'll be remembered as a hero who tried to stop that war.
    • Avatar: The Last Airbender fanfiction Foxfire: Hongqi, son of Quon, was the son of a fabulously wealthy merchant and never had to work for anything outside of his earthbending. He takes a Lower Ring woman as a mistress and starts a family with her in secret, but gets bored of his mistress and wants to marry a richer woman. Despite dumping the poor woman, Hongqi didn't want her to move from him, so he disfigures her by giving her a Glasgow Grin and destroys her emotionally by taking away her children, preventing her from seeing them, and dumps her back in the Lower Ring; the mistress commits suicide. After a while, Hongqi grew bored of his children and finally found a wealthy young bride to marry. Not wanting his future in-laws to find out about his bastard children, Hongqi murders his own toddler-aged children by trapping them in an active kiln and shutting it closed with earthbending, cremating the children alive.
    • Gian is a ruthless and sociopathic Bounty Hunter, who doesn't care who is in charge of the world order or who his employers are, so long as he's paid for his murderous services. He forces a rather meek young Earthbending slave to help him uncover the rebellion base, and kills her in cold blood simply because he had no further use for her. He's also revealed to be an Earth Kingdom man who essentially exploits his own people for profit, and admits as much to Jiazin without an ounce of guilt about it.

VideoGame.Kingdom Hearts III page, would like to change page quote from:

"For life and light, together we fight."

to more illustrative main character quote from "Final Battle Trailer": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lz1w_uW3lSE

"They can take your world. They can take your heart. Cut you loose from all you know. But if it's your fate... then every step forward will always be a step closer to home."

I would like to add an entry to Double Standard Rape: Female on Male, for an episode of Will and Grace where a woman pins Will down on a bed and attempts to have sex with him to get back at her fiance.

Also, since it's a straight woman assaulting a gay man, I think it's disturbingly evocative of corrective rape- imagine a straight man forcing himself on a lesbian who is screaming and fighting him off, it's that with the genders reversed.

I was requesting to restore a cut page for TheSociopath.Ruby And Nora. Let me take a moment to explain:

I've been working on the pages and noticed that there was an abundance of examples of The Sociopath in this series. I made a joke about how it would need its own page to list all of them in detail on the TheSociopath.Fan Works page, but I started to look into how it might look if it was created.

I used the namespace intending just to hit preview to see what it looked like if it were created, but I hit save by mistake. I had to request to get it cut just in case it wasn't allowed. Now that I have seen that it would have enough examples, now I'm asking if it could be created and if the one I made before can be restored. I noticed that A Song of Ice and Fire has its own page, and the series I've been running the page for has even more examples on the page than ASOIAF does.

TL;DR, can I create a subpage for The Sociopath for an individual work? If so, can I restore the one I had cut beforehand when I wasn't intending to put it up?

Can the following (or something like it) be added to Word Cruft?

  • This Example Is an Example: "X is an example" or "X is this." Well, yes, the reader can safely assume by the fact that you've chosen to include it in a list of examples of this trope that it is, in fact, an example of this trope. Entries written like this can virtually always be rephrased to just launch right into the context without taking time to establish its exampleness first.

Just one of those personal bugbears that I go out of my way to correct whenever I see it; it would be nice to have it reflected on the Word Cruft page. Thanks!

D'you mind if I try that again?

  • Game of Thrones has several worthy candidates to being a fundamentalist or fanatic, from Beric and the Brotherhood to the red priestesses worshiping the Lord of Light, but the two largest examples are Melisandre/The Red Woman and the High Sparrow leading the Faith of the Seven. Examples of this include burning crosses, poisoning nonbelievers, sex rituals, blood magic, demon assassins, kidnapping, burning heretics alive, burning children alive...and that's just Melisandre. The Faith of the Seven believe in destroying any establishment they don't like, flinging anyone they don't like into the streets to be humiliated and flogged, destruction of any alcohol, kidnapping the King's wife and mother, torture, forced confessions, then marching the King's mother through the kingdom shaved and naked to be brutalized for one crime, before brainwashing said King to make everything in the kingdom revolve around the church while arranging a trial for his mother to dole out punishment for her other crimes.

At Cartoon Network, for Courage, for Fusilli, please change that second pothole to Courage The Cowardly Dog S 1 E 13 Little Muriel The Great Fusilli.

And a rewrite for that page:

  • The Powerpuff Girls: One-shot villain Dick Hardly, from season 4's two-parter "Knock it Off", is a former colleague of Professor Utonium defined by his greed. Seeing financial profit in Utonium's daughters, Dick manipulates the girls into giving him samples of Chemical X and mass produces crude replicas of the girls that deteriorate easily. Displaying his callousness towards his sapient creations by ordering a perfect replica of Buttercup melted down for its excess Chemical X, Dick traps the real Powerpuff Girls and slowly, painfully drains them while boasting that he could kill the girls and have Utonium as his slave at the same time. With no charm or comedic traits to his name, Dick was a monster even before drinking Chemical X.

For the quote, please pothole The Lich and Finn to Adventure Time: The Lich and Adventure Time: Finn, respectively.

Please replace the appropriate tree at Live Action TVA To L with this:

  • Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids: Prince Egor, from "The Black Knight", is an evil knight known for his evil deeds in battle. When he hears that its king is dead, he invades the country of Ruritania, steals the crown, and subjects its people to endless misery. He steals all the wealth and possessions, forces everyone to worship him, kills all the animals and burns all the crops, leaving his subjects with nothing to eat and beheads anyone who speaks out against him. Not even children are safe, as they are put in service of the Black Knight.
