Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. The Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard tropes aren't currently adding or removing examples. Wick changes and other minor corrections to the locked trope pages can be made via this thread, but more significant changes will be declined.
  9. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

The Inheritance Cycle example for Strawman Political should be renamed into Straw Character, especially since it has nothing to do with politics. Can someone do this, please?

The Asperchu main page needs the following example from the YMMV page, as Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds isn't YMMV anymore:

Can the For the Evulz entry in Maradonia Saga be changed to an The Empire entry? Like this:

It does not seem to be a proper use of For the Evulz.

[up] Because the Locked Pages stick out and are often in unkempt state due to the lock. Or maybe because I am a moderator wannabe.

Also, the YMMV.Sonichu contains an Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds entry that belongs back to the main page, as per the Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds page. Furthermore, Author Filibuster in Sonichu should become Character Filibuster as per this discussion, since it is not an example. Finally,

  • The Scrappy: Sonichu and Rosechu's kids. The children are widely hated by everybody. Even more so than the other characters. This is saying a lot. They may or may not show traits of The Wesley as well.

in the Sonichu YMMV page must become:

[up] Oh, and thanks.

Since there had been a few thoughts on the Michael Cole page I have a couple of ideas for edits.

Mean Character, Nice Actor: In comparison to his heel run Cole has shown to be completely different to the role he plays, such as how humbling it was to take over for Jim Ross and his hopes that he would be able to live up the beloved commentator.

Never Live It Down: His insistence of moving away from wrestling and towards sports entertainment as well as getting moves wrong primarily. Some of his antics as a heel have yet to be forgotten by fans.

Also if some of the comments are maybe a little hard to understand as had been said I'd be happy to explain. I think a lot of it was specifically targeting the Internet Wrestling Community that had set a few people off. For me it was a case of lacking the belief he could be a real heel and rather just be a Jerkass, something which he has improved upon a lot.

And lest I forget, YMMV.The Bible has some pretty bizzarre Example Indentation In Trope Lists under Moral Event Horizon:

  • Moral Event Horizon: Satan has a lot:
    • Many people consider him tempting Eve with the fruit as this, as it resulted in pretty much all the evil and suffering in the world. This one only applies to Satan if he is the snake, however, and some people see it as a failed attempt at giving mankind wisdom.
    • What he did to Job. Yeah, he had permission, but it's still a pretty nasty thing to do.
    • Helping the Antichrist to deceive people into worshiping him.
    • Desiring to "sift Peter as wheat," which most likely means he wanted to do the same things to Peter as he did to Job.
    • The Bible implies that he was behind Jesus crucifixion. If so, he was not only Hoist by His Own Petard but Out-Gambitted, because Jesus's death, preplanned by God, opened the one and only way for people to be saved.
    • In Revelation, he is pictured (probably metaphorically) as a red dragon sanding in front of a delivering woman so he can devour her child as soon as it is born.
  • Saul:
    • Repeatedly trying to kill David, even after all the kindness and mercy he showed him.
    • Killing the priests of Nob who harbored David.
    • Almost getting his son Jonathan killed for not keeping Saul's foolish oath that he knew nothing about, and later deliberately trying to kill Jonathan for standing up for David.
    • Murdering some of the Gibeonites, whom Israel had sworn to protect. This one also applies to his household. This would come back to haunt the house of Saul when the Gibeonites forced David to hand over Saul's grandsons to be executed as the price of their allegiance.
  • Joab:
    • Killing Absalom (David's son) explicitly against David's orders.
    • Killing Abner, who had defected to David.
    • Carrying out the Uriah Gambit. Joab had been a very naughty boy.
  • Judas:
  • Antioch:

Can it be changed to this one? (Or just to a more correct one if this isn't correct)

  • Moral Event Horizon:

    • Judas:
    • Antioch:

Finally, can this entry in Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt be inverted, i.e:

  • Anime Anatomy: Averted with the Sperm Ghosts, each of which have rather prominent testicles.
    • Played straight with Panty in the first Sanitarybox short (Heroine Interview), which she strips down from her baseball uniform, to her bra and panties, and finally, her birthday suit (sans nipple, areola, pubic hair, and slit; one we can see, anyway.)

must be:

I don't know, but I suppose that "Played straight" should come before "Averted"

I almost missed this one, but can the first two subpoints of Complete Monster in YMMV.The Bible be taken to the corresponding Discussion page? They have might in the first subbullet and a Justifying Edit in the second one.

  • 1541 tsstevens: Did the first of those. But really we're not about "troping people" or being party to fan disputes over the the perception of a performer.
  • 1542 Septimus Heap: Did those. In several cases I just dropped examples that were aimed at having a go at the author.
  • 1543 Mark Lungo: Done.
  • 1544 Septimus Heap: Did Moral Event Horizon. Did Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt, so to speak.
  • 1545 Septimus Heap: Meh, just dropped the "maybe" and the justifying edit.
  • 1546 movie 007: Done.

If I may, Michael Cole is a wrestling character. Michael Sean Coulthard is the man who plays him. The same as Mark Callaway, Mike Mizanin or Alyson Hannigan or Amber Benson.

With that said, should we be looking at cuts to other wrestling characters? Why should Undertaker get a Crowning Moment Of Awesome because he told Vince Mcmahon if he wants to still have a company he'd better apologize for the Montreal Screwjob? If it was Mark Callaway who did it rather than the character he played then using the rules set out for Cole this should not apply.

That sounds like the kind of excessively partisan issues that got those pages locked in the first place. Let's just leave 'em alone.

You're referring to having an obsession with removing anything that could be considered a knock on the character, correct?
