Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. The Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard tropes aren't currently adding or removing examples. Wick changes and other minor corrections to the locked trope pages can be made via this thread, but more significant changes will be declined.
  9. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

More request additions to The Lonely Island:

  • The Cameo:
    • Lady Gaga in "Three Way".
  • Minor Injury Overreaction: The boys dedicate a song to flipping out about getting called wack, instructing a club to raise its hands to find the culprit.

[up][up] I expect they were nuked around the time we decided not to collect fetishes on the Tv Tropes wiki.

[up] Added The Cameo, but I don't think Minor Injury Overreaction fits. My reading is that's literal injury, not insult.

[up]But I was talking about the in-universe examples, as in part of the story. What we deleted was troper's fetishes.

[up][up] EDIT: I need to think about that a bit more.

[up] Done.

OK nuclearneo I had another look.

Perverse Sexual Lust is: "Real Life attraction to a fictional character.' Apparently none of the in-world examples fit on this page in the first place.

Well, we let YMMV and Audience Reaction stay on the main page if it's a character within the work reacting to a Show Within the Show.

Fight smart, not fair.

I don't have any problem with "character is attracted to a character in another work that is still fiction in their own universe", but I'm not sure if we should even bother, as it seems the original point of the page is to document something that happens in real life.

Example of such a case: The plot of Cool World revolves around an animator falling in love with a female character he drew.

[up][up][up]Good point, after all Love It or Hate It is like that now.

[up]The history shows a bunch of examples that the plot is based on like that.

Should we make a TRS thread or just YKTTW a new trope?

Edit request for the Double Standard page. Under the "either" folder there's currently:

"Bastard Boyfriend: And related tropes. Women are depicted being abused by their boyfriends to titillate the audience. Even more disturbing, this trope shows up mostly in media made by women for women and is very popular in Boys' Love Genre..."

There should be a "the" before Boys' Love Genre to make it grammatically correct.

Because the wiki discourages initialisms?

Standard anti-acronym redirect policy.

Edit request for Double Standard under "Sexist Against Either" : Girl-Show Ghetto: Implies that shows made for girls are inferior and should only be watched by girls. This also has a little homophobia in the implication that any men who watch said shows are gay, and that is bad.

The Standard Anti-Acronym Redirect Policy is also known as "SAARP".

But its the original name, not a redirect. We still have BFG and BFS after all.

Clear titles are what we want. Not opaque initialisms. Not snowclones for the sake of it. We had a TRS thread on it. Please see Renamed Tropes first.

BFG, at least, is a pre-existing term, if I remember correctly.

The Bible contains a link to The Book Of Mormon that needs the Literature namespace.

The pothole on "Done first by Shakespeare" on Chekovs Gun should be The Zeroth Law Of Trope Examples, not Older Than Steam.
