Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. The Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard tropes aren't currently adding or removing examples. Wick changes and other minor corrections to the locked trope pages can be made via this thread, but more significant changes will be declined.
  9. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

Whoops, my mistake - in DarthWiki.Fallen Creator under "Film", the wick in the entry for ZAZ should be Film/TheKentuckyFriedMovie, not Film/KentuckyFriedMovie. Sorry about that.

Thanks, and Main.Mondegreen should have a Website/ namespace in front of Cracked.

ETA: And more for DarthWiki.Fallen Creator! Main.Darkwing Duck needs Western Animation/.

We need a temporary lock on YMMV.Wreck It Ralph. Two guys are currently having an Edit War over the Complete Monster entry for Turbo, and us in the Complete Monster discussion thread are still trying to decide if he even counts. Please lock the page for a few weeks until the audiance reaction settles down.

I don't think so. It's only two users so far, and it doesn't look like an Edit War yet.

If anyMod feels like adding to Inheritance Cycle:

  • Spider-Sense: Eragon's gedwëy ignasia (Shining Palm, the mark he got from becoming a Dragon Rider) sometimes itches when he's just barely missing something significant nearby. For instance, when he's about to be attacked it quite often itches, and having a werecat sneak by at the edge of Eragon's sight seems to have triggered it another time.
Thanks!

On the Barack Obama page under Self-Deprecation

  • In a speech he gave to a group of young people who had helped during his successful 2012 campaign he told them that he didn't see himself in them, they were already better than he was since he was not politically active at their age.

DTH. I went ahead and locked YMMV.Wreck It Ralph until the CM thread makes a decision on the issue.

On the subject of Wreck It Ralph, the YMMV page lists All Animation Is Disney, which isn't a subjective trope.

I've started work on a trope page for the gameloft game app for My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic. Requesting changes be made to the main pages to reflect it.

Can someone redirect Narm to Narm and lock it so that it doesn't get blanked again, at least until all the 447 inbounds are gone, please?

If you're clearing the wicks for Career Killer, you might want to ignore locked pages until the end, then put all of them into one post.

To the Tropes are Tools page, I thought it'd be cool to add in a quote pertaining to the 'There is Nothing New Under the Sun' section. It's from Valentine Cunningham, a very well-regarded Oxford literary scholar:

"But it's what this author is doing this time that matters, as much as, if not more than, what he or she did last time, and that, certainly, matters far more than its kinships, its family likenesses with its mode, its genres, its formal kind."

It seems to me like a good way of summing up that a work can be similar to another without being utterly derivative. If this doesn't work, do you know if the quote could work in a different wiki entry?
