Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. The Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard tropes aren't currently adding or removing examples. Wick changes and other minor corrections to the locked trope pages can be made via this thread, but more significant changes will be declined.
  9. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

Could you please switch out The Dresden Files for the contents of Magnificent Bastard The Dresden Files. Nothing major. I just fixed a few spelling errors in the names and corrected the order.

Todo Amor No Es Correspondido shows up on the related pages section for Mary Sue but doesn't even exist. I've historically resolved this glitch by creating and immediately cut listing the work page in question, which I can't do for Main/ pages and just want a mod to do it.

Edit request for Lolita, affecting two tropes:

  • Madness Mantra: Chapter 26, where the daily headache in the opaque air of the tombol jail is disturbing. The paragraph describes how he can't go on, and ends with Lolita repeated 8-10 times (based on edition), followed by "Repeat till the page is full, printer". This chapter spans half a page, with the other half being another chapter instead.

  • One-Paragraph Chapter:
    • Chapter 7 is a single paragraph that's equivalent to one page, describing his attempts to control his desire by marrying someone.
    • Chapter 26, is the most notable example, where Humbert asks his editor/printer to fill up the entire page with "Lolita". He does not, so the chapter is very brief about the size of half of a book's page and the final line having no adjustments to reach the right margin. Printed versions have the other portion of the page filled with a different chapter.
    • Chapter 30: Humbert becomes a little paranoid about "you veteran crime reporter"
    • Chpater 33: He had separate rooms from Lolita, but in the middle of the night, she game to Humbert because she had absolutely nowhere else to go.
    • Part 2 Chapter 10: Intermission where he talks to Bert.
    • Part 2 Chapter 31: At a rest top, where he recalls a conversation with a priest.
    • Additionally, there's scattered chapters that almost meet this trope, but have a single paragraph break.

Reason: Discovered that some of the editions were printed differently, and in doing so found another trope had more examples than originally mentioned on-page.

Create redirect Diss Track to The Diss Track? (As mentioned on the redirect discussion thread, it should've been made without the "The"...)

Edit request for Hollywood Tactics, to add the following example under Western Animation:

  • In the Avatar: The Last Airbender episode "Avatar Roku" the Gaang has to get to a temple inside the Fire Nation, the border of which is blockaded by the Fire Navy. However, the blockade as depicted is unrealistic even for a close blockade; two lines of ships steaming in opposite directions passing close abroad is overkill, risks collisions, and a waste of fuel and time. Realistically all that's required for an effective close blockade is for the various ships involved to have overlapping weapons ranges, so that nothing can penetrate without coming under fire. Based on their attempts to shoot down the Gaang riding on Appa, the max effective range of their fire catapults is a few miles and they could easily maintain the blockade with about a third of the ships we see.

I'm not sure that scene, nor indeed anything in the show, is expected to be taken as realistic from the standpoint of military doctrine. I could name fifty inconsistencies easily. It just seems like nitpicking.

Appeal to Ridicule is now a redirect to a Useful Notes page (specifically, UsefulNotes.Logical Fallacies) and not a trope, so please remove the example on WebVideo.Mumkey Jones.

Fighteer, there's dozens of examples on that page from sci-fi and fantasy that use poor tactics with weapons and techniques that don't exist in real life. Should all those examples be cut? The trope description says nothing about how the setting must be realistic, just that the tactics must be unsound.

I don't know. I just feel like the trope is meaningless if every inconsistency is belabored. There ought to be something to cause examples to stand out... an inference that we are meant to believe that genuine military tactics are being represented. Otherwise it's nothing but complaining that a work isn't realistic.

In that case maybe the whole trope needs to go to TRS, but as currently written, I feel my example fits. The Fire Nation used a dumb tactic that was ineffective and inefficient, but it was portrayed as the correct or at least normal way of doing things.

Please add the following example to Snuff Film, under the Literature folder:

  • In the Night Huntress World story "Devil to Pay", the demon Xaphan compels Blake Turner to commit murder on a regular basis, frequently recording the murders to taunt Blake.

May this example be updated on Double Standard? The link is dead for some time now, and the closest is from the Internet Archive.

From:

* Samus Is a Girl / Unsettling Gender-Reveal: Women that turn out to be men are seen as Squick inducing, while men that turn out to be women are seen as a turn-on. This pretty much sums it up.

[up] - It's part of an index, though, it's not a work.

But still, it makes indexing weird, so that's not good.

I wonder if you could remove Unsettling Gender-Reveal and replace it or something with Homophobia Index, since there's some double-standards in all homophobia or something?
