On that note, generic dollar store brand "Stars and Stripes" limon flavored soda is amazing. It's even better than the drink it's ripping off.
Seeing a bottle of generic club soda at my grandfather's birthday party caused me to invent a rather strange OC, a merciless hitman who likes to drink club soda straight up. However, that was owing more to me thinking, "Ok, just what is club soda anyway?" than the generic aspect.

"A closed mouth doesn't get fed. An open mouth swallows 8 spiders a year." - Don ZabuWal-Mart used to sell these carbonated flavored waters; kind of like soda only a bit milder. They were fantastic, especially the Peach and Black Cherry flavors. Why did they have to goooo?
With most of the generics I've tried, I can take them or leave them, but a few flavors of Bi-Lo * soda are great. In particular I have a fondness for their root beer, which tastes almost exactly like A&W RB in cans. The plastic bottles that are the only way of getting A&W around here just don't cut it, as far as flavor goes.
(Mind you, glass bottles trump all, but there aren't any generics of that around here. IBC RB is the only option for that I've seen around here in NW South Carolina.)

All your safe space are belong to TrumpI did like the key lime variety.
Dr. Thunder and carbonated flavored waters are undeniably awesome.
Also, Weis generic sodas, especially their white birch beer.
Faygo Redpop's pretty much the only strawberry soda you can get around here, and it's pretty good too.

Any non-name brand Dr. Pepper alternative is so much superior.
I love the Hy-Vee store in Brookings. They sell the most random things, like random volumes of manga, but you can't beat Heee Haw. There is an extra e.

Ghetto Soda would be an excellent band name.
"A closed mouth doesn't get fed. An open mouth swallows 8 spiders a year." - Don ZabuI see lots of strawberry sodas hereabouts.
Generic sodas are the only place I can ever find diet grape soda! And I actually like diet sodas—and I love grape soda—so it makes me all happy!
Also, the vending machines at the YMCA I used to go to summer camp at had the most divine root beer I've ever tasted. No root beer I've had since lives up.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaMmmmm. Root beer in a glass bottle is approximately seventeen times as delicious as the same root beer in a can, cup, or plastic bottle. But around here you can only get them at restaraunts, andc even then only at a few. I've never seen them for sale in a store at all. :|
IBC root beer is pretty common around here.
On further thought about my last post (particularly the parenthetical comment), there is one or two old-timey gas stations that aren't part of a regional/national chain that carry A&W RB in glass bottles, but they're kinda out in BFE from me, and only sell them in the individual bottles (read: price marked up like all hell).

I had a pizza party today in one of my classes. What did the person in charge of drinks bring? A box of "Cola". Just "Cola". Blue can, silver bubbles, just the word "Cola" printed on the side as if it had something to hide. Tasted like cheap coca cola, obviously.
It was amazing though.
