Guess Oil Ocean evaporated from global warming. Or rather, exploded.

There was a desert zone planned for Sonic 2, but Oil Desert Zone seems to be a mixture of that concept and Oil Ocean Zone.

Genocide City sounds like it would be a nightmare. I imagine that it would take all of the worst traps and combine them into a level of death for Sonic. It would be like constant bottomless pits with spikes on ceilings and bursts of lava... underwater.

Fun fact: Genocide City Zone was partially finished before Sonic Team decided to cut it. So they took what had already been finished, and made it into Metropolis Zone, Act 3.

So, yeah, nightmare.

Genocide City is a pretty badass name, you know a stage with that name is going to be hard.

So yeah, how about that Metal Sonic being playable in Episode 1 if you have both games, huh?

[up][up][up] & [up][up][up][up] Actually, it was because the Japanese developers wanted a strong word for the level yet, underestimated how strong the word's connotations were actually in English. I think they we're going for "Death City Zone".

[up][up]: I certainly like the bonus but I hear Episode 1 isn't worth playing >_>

Eh, Episode 1 is okay in the sense that, while it wasn't particularly exciting, it was not terrible, either.

What Komo said - Episode 1's problem isn't that it's not a good game, per se. It's that it's not very memorable and not really all that distinctive.

A lot of it is very standardized (with a single gimmick or two thrown in) and not really as fun to play as the games it derives from. But it's not a bad game either.

Also, all the "physics problems" are kind of exaggerated by the fans.

Some of the problems are exaggerated, like uncurling. Some choices are just plain odd, like having to jump dash to gain speed.

Hands on

Summary: Some things have been improved (uncurling, momentum etc), some haven't. Still looks great. Runs at 60fps.

When it comes to rolling mechanics I still find it a little grumble worthy that Sonic fans seem to think "the classic games" = Sonic 3, when Sonic 4's hill rolling was relatively similar to Sonic 2 and Sonic CD's mechanics (where running was nearly always better than rolling).

Anyway, I'm only vaguely disappointed about not being able to play as Tails - to me, having Tails and Sonic co-op is just as good.

[up]We might be able to play as Tails via DLC. There was a report about it on TSSZ News. It would be co-op, though.

Well, as long as I can control Tails, I don't really care whether he's alone or with Sonic as a partner.

I'm just hoping the game'll be affordable at some point.
