The giant rings were also in Sonic3and Knuckles, which came after Sonic CD, I believe. Also, the Sonic Advance Series had giant springs.

I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, I'm just letting you know.

^ I know, but they weren't at the end of the stage. Seeing that end-stage ring bit took me back... to all the times I'd forget they were there and run past them completely. XD

Oh, I didn't know that's what you meant. I preferred the hidden ones: not only because they were some of the many extras in the additional paths through the level, but because the challenge in finding them all was often the most fun part of getting the emeralds. Certain later emerald stages often seemed unnecessarily hard.

Personally, I think the boost gauge mechanic is a decent way to have speedy stages without ramps or springs everywhere, it just needed to be a bit better handled. Less Totally Radical catchphrase spouting stunts, and more making the player decide where, when and how much they're going to use up that boost gauge.

So guys I just thought of something. When they are wraping up the episodes, they can do Act 3 or 4's of levels from the Genesis games, like Green Hill Zone Act 4 or Angel Island Zone Act 3.

You do realize that would be a really unwise move don't you?

Would it really matter at that point?

Not in the slightest. It arguably didn't matter in the first place.

I think Tommy meant something in the sense how Splash Hill Zone is basicly a throwback/referance/spruced up Green Hill Zone. In appearance.

Then again, Green Hill and Emerald Hill Zones did share similar designs. Angel Island not so much.

And the confusing thing, isn't the whole game supposed to be happening on Angel Island? Sonic 3 I mean. Well cept for Death Egg and so, but all those other Zones are supposedly on the same island. Now to wonder how Carnival Night Zone got there in the first place and if anyone besides Knuckles actually lives on the island...

^ Uh no, I'm pretty sure Angel Island wasn't relevant til Sonic 3. Or was it 2. I'm drunk, I forget.

Sorry, I kinda went off topic. I did mean Sonic 3 (&Knuckles) happened on Angel Island in it's entirety. The way the plot seems to give the image, though the zones are vastly different. But it's probobly a pretty big damn island!

Sonic 1 and 2 we're not mentioned except for how Splash Hill Zone in Sonic 4 is like Gren Hill Zone on crack. In a good way.

I really miss how Sonic 3 had the little cutscenes, showing how each level led into the next. It gave a sense that you're on one big interesting island full of strange locales, though I'm pretty sure you go off the island for Ice Cap Zone at least.

But after that is Launch Base Zone, in which you stop Eggbotnik from launching his Death Egg into the orbit. Then comes the &Knuckles part of the game, eventually leading to Hidden Palace.

wild mass guessWe can only assume the presence of the Master Emerald (and maybe Chaos Emeralds in general) can somehow keep 4 different climates on one big damn island: desert heat, icy winter, tropical jungle and regular sunny spring/summer weather. Not called Chaos Emeralds for nothing, I guess?wild mass guess

HBG Sonic 4 Preview: “Just Didn’t Feel Right”

It’s a valiant effort on their part to try and go back to it’s roots, but maybe Sonic’s just too long past it’s prime. The gameboy advance versions were all 2-D, but felt right. I hate to say it, but Sonic 4 just didn’t feel right. There was something about it that just didn’t set well with me.I’m willing to give it another chance when it’s released, but so far it looks like a it’s going to be yet another nail in the Sonic the Hedgehog coffin.

Harsh... ?

Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.

Is there an equivalent of "I don't like it anymore, so I hate anything about it"?

Harsh... ?

Especially since he didn't actually give any reason for it. Just "it didn't feel quite right to me, so it's horrible and another horrible failure for Sonic Team."

Eyeroll, Facepalm and Sigh...

To quote Movieverse Snape:

Irony indeed, as their pretty much aiming for the game to be Retraux nostalgia thing. "It is what they're aiming for and I hate it for that."

As I said: This game is never going to get a fair review. Just ignore reviews for this. And most of the word of mouth. In fact just ignore people entirely.
