Oh, I didn't know that's what you meant. I preferred the hidden ones: not only because they were some of the many extras in the additional paths through the level, but because the challenge in finding them all was often the most fun part of getting the emeralds. Certain later emerald stages often seemed unnecessarily hard.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyPersonally, I think the boost gauge mechanic is a decent way to have speedy stages without ramps or springs everywhere, it just needed to be a bit better handled. Less Totally Radical catchphrase spouting stunts, and more making the player decide where, when and how much they're going to use up that boost gauge.
You do realize that would be a really unwise move don't you?
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I think Tommy meant something in the sense how Splash Hill Zone is basicly a throwback/referance/spruced up Green Hill Zone. In appearance.
Then again, Green Hill and Emerald Hill Zones did share similar designs. Angel Island not so much.
And the confusing thing, isn't the whole game supposed to be happening on Angel Island? Sonic 3 I mean. Well cept for Death Egg and so, but all those other Zones are supposedly on the same island. Now to wonder how Carnival Night Zone got there in the first place and if anyone besides Knuckles actually lives on the island...
Sonic hates SOPASorry, I kinda went off topic. I did mean Sonic 3 (&Knuckles) happened on Angel Island in it's entirety. The way the plot seems to give the image, though the zones are vastly different. But it's probobly a pretty big damn island!
Sonic 1 and 2 we're not mentioned except for how Splash Hill Zone in Sonic 4 is like Gren Hill Zone on crack. In a good way.
Sonic hates SOPABut after that is Launch Base Zone, in which you stop Eggbotnik from launching his Death Egg into the orbit. Then comes the &Knuckles part of the game, eventually leading to Hidden Palace.
We can only assume the presence of the Master Emerald (and maybe Chaos Emeralds in general) can somehow keep 4 different climates on one big damn island: desert heat, icy winter, tropical jungle and regular sunny spring/summer weather. Not called Chaos Emeralds for nothing, I guess?
HBG Sonic 4 Preview: “Just Didn’t Feel Right”
Harsh... ?
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows. Is there an equivalent of "I don't like it anymore, so I hate anything about it"?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyEspecially since he didn't actually give any reason for it. Just "it didn't feel quite right to me, so it's horrible and another horrible failure for Sonic Team."
Eyeroll, Facepalm and Sigh...

Irony indeed, as their pretty much aiming for the game to be Retraux nostalgia thing. "It is what they're aiming for and I hate it for that."
Sonic hates SOPAWait, was that aimed at me? Sorry, I kinda misphrased that, maybe.
No real opinion on the game yet from my part, except "looks nice so far."
Sonic hates SOPAexactly. Hell, that's why I'm looking at the page for this and sonic colors less often.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy

The giant rings were also in Sonic3and Knuckles, which came after Sonic CD, I believe. Also, the Sonic Advance Series had giant springs.
I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, I'm just letting you know.
