By the way, is Gyro the gone with the wind Jairo?

Gyro is an alternate spelling of Jairo, if that's what you meant. And the character in question is actually Meleron, in case you missed that.

And would it have killed Togashi to give us some closure on this arc before the hiatus? I mean, just when things were getting good...

Sir Psycho:

......did you HAVE to mention vore and remind me of the fact that some people will absolutely find that chapter to be ultimate Fetish Fuel.

The fact that everyone involved looks like they're having orgasms does NOT help matters one bit.

But yeah, I think there was some complaining about it on some English-speaking forums when the thing came out. Can't remember if it was here or somewhere else though.

He's not a sociopath, he just has trust issues stemming from his childhood. Note how incredulous he was about Gon trusting him when they first met and how his (broken) power relies on people trusting each other. That's just... really hard for him, since he grew up thinking he was in a dog-eat-dog world.

I agree about the trust issues, but he just seems in general portrayed as too nice for someone who's the mastermind behind NGL.

I've always thought that he's not really as nice as he seems. He did send two of his minions to die against Gon without a second thought, after all.

He's kind of like Gon, that way.

@Yuen: I think there was some complaining about the vore thing in this very thread when Chapter 299 came out.

@ Yuen: OH GOD, you noticed the orgasm faces too?

My initial reaction to that was either Narm or, "I Knew It!, Itsuki's a screamer!"

...I am so going to hell for that.

Should Dropped a Bridge on Him be added to Yupi on the character sheet?

I'd wait for the next chapter to see if Yupi is really dead.

For someone as powerful as him to get killed off like that, offscreen, against someone like Werefin seems a bit odd...even if he was depowered from feeding Meryem.

Let's hope that Wriggle Pouf doesn't get killed off so quick and easily.

So to recap:

Netero and King fight —> King is boring and invincible

Netero uses the the bomb —> we are treated to acid sequence —> King becomes more boring and invincible

Some stuff with the octopus, Palm and some fodder ants that at this point no remembers what's going on

Palm gets a big zit

Gon becomes the Japanese He-Man and ends a fight that had been built for six years in two chapters

Yupi gets squished

I miss anythin'? No. Great see ya in six months, if we're lucky.

Anyone have any idea what Pitou's nen ability "Terpsichora" was supposed to do? He used it against Netero once and the narration said something...was it supposed to attack anyone who kills Pitou?

It basically gave him a huge boost to him combat ability, and was able to keep going even if Pitou died.

I like this manga but it seems like it's really decreased in quality of everything, especially the story, I'd like to get back to the whole searching for father thing and I'd like to know a bit more about what nen is capable of. Also if you were in this world what would your power be? the question applies to everyone.

Also if you were in this world what would your power be?

Formlessness of body; the ability to fluidly and rapidly reshape myself. Not fine tuned cosmetic changes (ie. taking on someone else's appearance,) but not restricted to human bodily shapes either (able to collapse in a puddle on the ground.)

Falls very firmly in the domain of Transformation.

^ In other words, Yupi's power?

^^ That makes me think...do you think the mangaka is planning on introducing Gon's father to defeat Meruem?

there's a transformation? anyway mine would be the power to kill and bring back the dead on a life exchange type thing but 1-1, the power can be used to instantly kill anyone no matter how powerful but then can only be used to bring someone back, then it repeats, i'd say it would fall into the specialist category.

Manipulation. I'd control my own body such that I could do things that were within my power on auto-pilot, without experiencing the tediousness or frustration or pain or procrastination or whatever might make me reluctant to do something.

adoltin Since: Jul, 2009
#221: May 30th 2010 at 1:47:18 PM

My power isn't as broken as you might think, yes it can kill anyone instantly but only one person at a time and after it has killed just one person it can't kill anyone until it brings someone back from the dead, same thing with the bringing people back, only one at a time and after just one can't do it again until it kills someone. It works on the philosophy that all life is equal, well among sentient creatures anyway, it can't kill ANY living thing just things that are self-aware

Yuen Since: Dec, 1969
#222: May 30th 2010 at 1:53:49 PM

Why do you care if it's broken? It's not like we're making a video game here. The question was what power would you have if you were in the Hx H world, not what power would you have if you were a video game/manga/whatever character.

For me, if I were somehow in that world, I would probably have the power to create a magical personal bubble that would protect me from outward physical or nen forces and that could move at high speeds and/or teleport.

adoltin Since: Jul, 2009
#223: May 30th 2010 at 2:02:11 PM

if you could make it move at high speeds you'd be a human wrecking ball, I'd love to see that

My power would be a...actually, I don't know what this would be.

By pointing my fingers, I can place a light marker on any target. I can have up to four light markers at any one time, and they last until activated or exorcised. I can activate them to do one of three things:

  • A brilliant ray of light shoots up from the light marker, piercing ceilings and the like (but not mirrors). Useful for tracking.
  • I teleport to the light marker. Useful in a close-range fight, but dangerous if I don't know where the marker is.
  • The marker explodes. The blast isn't powerful enough to be deadly in most cases, but it can incapacitate.
