...I...wait...what?
Uhm...ok...I have read series with cerebus syndrome, I mean actually see the process of it being implemented?
Does that explain it?

New User HandleNew chapter is out. A wedding and a scene, interesting.
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!I can't see Tanto undergoing Cerebus Syndrome in an organic fashion. It would probably end up as First and Ten Syndrome, driving away the original audience, while failing to connect to a new one because they continue to associate it with its previous tone.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.Wow...Miyoshi looks really different drawn that way, and I am continually impressed with the way Azuki is portrayed. She is probably the first nadeshiko-esque girl I've ever truly liked.
Also, @Desertopia, stop being pessimistic. This is shonen. They're gonna hafta succeed EVENTUALLY.
New User HandleI'm sure they'll succeed eventually. I just don't think they'll succeed with Tanto.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.Well, if they fail with Tanto and get a new one, I won't complain, but I feel it would be more interesting to see a genre shift, even if it still doesn't become THE manga they want to do. It's just that with the marriage and what not, it's not like they can AFFORD to not be published.
New User HandleI was expecting Mashiro to call it off by this chapter already. How long are they planning to drag this "comedy doesn't fit Akito/Mashiro style" arc? We're been getting the same thing with Akito/Mashiro storyline. Every time its been Mashiro doubting that comedy isn't for them and Akito showing more and more signs he can't write comedy. At least the storyline is progressing with the genius hikikomori mangaka.
Though I am curious how they are going to end Tanto. Miura will obviously be opposed to it. Head editor of Shonen Jump has obviously shown that he don't tolerate mangaka that complains against their editor. Furthermore Hattori said authors with 2 series that ended quickly will going to have problem.
BTW, isn't Hattori speech/agenda very inappropriate considering its Takagi wedding? Trying to stir up Mashiro and Takagi emotion and all.

Chapter is out minus -RAWPARADISE- stamped over everything.
Your beauty is radiant.Another chapter rolls in, seriously, just end the damn thing!
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!Hm. The cliffhangers! The tension! What is going to happen!
Also, Iwase's romanitc nonense was Left Hanging. You Bastards.
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?Too bad it is pretty much a forgone conclusion that they won't leave Jump. After all, part of what makes this series so endearing is the whole 'behind the scenes' thing.
They will probably continue with Tanto, screw up on it while trying really hard, get cancelled after having a lot of work wasted and reputation ruined, and it will be played up as a good thing.
Maybe they will leave Jump. It certainly would tell you a lot about the two authors of this series. If not, I'm still hoping for Cerebus Syndrome for Tanto...

New User HandleI love the plot denisity of the most recent Bakuman. If Kishimoto were writing this it'd take two chapters to get through the first 11 pages.
| DA Page | Sketchbook |That head editor more or less chickened out on his ultimatum, though.
Apart from that, glad to see that things finally started to move again.
Meh-ish chapter. Not really a bad chapter, but not one that I particularly enjoyed. Still, no complaints. I am content.
New User HandleSince their next series is a do or die, won't that just mean they will succeed big time? Considering this is Shonen and the series is fairly idealistic...
Probably, but I wouldn't say it's guaranteed. The series so far hasn't consistently stayed on the rails of the narratively obvious.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.Considering another failure would mean the end of their careers, I'm gonna say they are going to make it. Unless the Bakuman itself suddenyl starts failing in the ratings.
Ok, so, no mystery manga, no action manga, no gag manga.
What's this genre gonna be?
New User HandleDare I say it... Romance?
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!Another failure won't necessarily end their careers. They could switch to another magazine, and if it's a choice between that or being jobless, they'd probably do it. It wouldn't be the first time they've failed to make their career go in the direction they wanted.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.I doubt a manga in Shonen Jump will be writing about another magazine, or have its protagonist writing for another magazine. Not to mention the legal issues.
I doubt it too, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen.
As for legal issues, I don't know how Japanese trademark law works, but they could always go with a bland name magazine if they're not allowed to use another real one.

...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.I'm pretty sure Shounen Jump is just the flagship magazine for a publishing company that owns several magazines targeted at different audiences or released with different schedules. They could always write for one of the "lesser" magazines owned by the same people.

I'm not sure what you meant by that Cerebus Syndrome comment. Are you just not familiar with any series that underwent it? Or were you just under the impression that it generally happens without the author realizing?
