...OK, that looks ridiculous and I may have to take a look. I'm not an Apple diehard or anything, but I did grow up in Silicon Valley, and I'd probably get some laughs out of this thing. I mean, look at it. Jobs looks like some unholy mix of Light Yagami and Aizawa. Amazing.

On a more serious note, I wonder if they had to ask anyone's permission to do this? I mean, it's clearly not a biopic, but most of those people besides Jobs (or all of them, not sure), are still alive. I'd think they'd at least want a heads-up.

Edit: Just checked again, and that article is from 2015. This thing's probably already out there, unless it only just started publishing.

@slimcoder: It's not that unusual. I once came across a (one-volume) American biocomic on Steve Jobs.

That’s not the same exactly.

It’s surprising in the sense of making an American cartoon starring Winston Churchill.

Some small publishers have even taken classic literature and turned them into manga. But I think this one beats any of these!

... someone needs to publish a manga based on Teddy Roosevelt.

I am super hyped that World Trigger has returned to Jump after the mangaka took a 2 year hiatus due to illness. Probably my favourite ongoing shonen at the moment. Also hyped it's getting moved to Jump Square, presumably to give the author more time to draw each chapter.

I've been Watching Kurau Phantom Memory for the past couple of days. It's a pretty interesting Action/Science Fiction show and the English dub is pretty cool.

Anyone reading APOSIMZ? It looks so much like Knights of Sidonia it seems difficult to think the two aren't related (other obviously from being drawn by the same person, I mean storywise).

Been meaning to check it out and other of his work

Does anyone else have trouble keeping up with the shows they watch seasonally? Like procrastinating and saying you’ll get to it but never do?

Watched Maquia, definitely worth the two hours spent. Only nitpick right now is that the climax dragged on a bit too much but other than that it was an enjoyable fantasy film/thought piece on outlasting others.

Maquia is fantastic

Mari Okada can churn as much crap as she wants as long as that film exists

Definite purchase come February

Just finished watching Ryoko Yakushiji's Supernatural Case Files. It was a pretty decent to good Police/Supernatural anime. I liked the chemistry between the two main leads and most of the cases were interesting to watching to watch. The last few episodes were especially pretty good. I will admit, the show had a few weak episodes and I feel like a few members of the secondary cast weren't really developed enough. In spite of that, I liked the show and I definitely think it's an underrated anime from the 2000's.

I just found out yesterday that the new dub for the Baki ONA commissioned by Netflix has Troy Baker and Steve Blum.

Those are two voices I have not heard in anime for a while I have to say.

A very welcomed surprise. [tup]

Years ago there was this channel called Razor, and in its brief existence it had a killer Sunday morning lineup. Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Samurai 7, Basilisk and Trinity Blood. The first two are really well known, and I think the next two are very underrated. Trinity Blood is definitely the weak link here. Basilisk, full name Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls, is based on a novel written in the 50s about ninjas. Some ideas from this novel were used to create that seminal classic Ninja Scroll. The novel was more faithfully adapted into a manga and shortly after into an anime in the 2000s. And I love Basilisk. It is just a solid anime with well-written characters and excellent ninja battles. Now, just this year, a sequel to that anime came out called Basilisk: The Ouka Ninja Scrolls. I watched all of the first Basilisk series to refresh my memory, then I watched all of The Ouka Ninja Scrolls. And it is terrible. Like, just bad all around. A disappointment in every way. If you've seen Ninja Scroll I recommend you watch the original Basilisk, but the sequel is not worth your time.

Yeah.

Apparently Netflix is so great, they can afford to produce union dubs now.

So, I just started watching Boarding School Juliet this evening. I finished episode 1 and it seems like a like a pretty good show so far. I want to see where it will go, so I'll keep watching.

Just finished Vandread. This took me way too long (about three months) for a 26-episode show; I had a lot of things getting in my way during that time, to the point of watching basically zero anime during November as a result of being sick.

While perhaps not quite as good as Kiddy Grade (and a lot less complicated and serious than Infinite Ryvius, with which it also shared more than a few elements), Vandread was a decent show and I generally enjoyed it. The first few episodes of the first season were a mess with very little explanation of what was going on, but the show got better once it hit its stride. The animation was decent, and surprisingly consistent for early 2000s Gonzo work (although not up to the level of Full Metal Panic). The CGI was even more surprisingly good for a TV anime of that era, comparing favorably with Stellvia. The characters were far from original, but generally played out well and didn't feel obnoxious. The story and themes were a mix of the unorthodox (all the stuff about gender roles and reproduction) and the extremely generic (all the stuff about overcoming yourself and trusting in your friends), and parts of the second season reminded me a lot of Gurren Lagann; of course Gurren Lagann is still the more extreme example, but after watching Vandread I feel that it may not have been quite as groundbreaking as it seemed. The OPs and EDs were not much good, but there was some decent background music that helped give the show a more distinctive character.

Next up is Kamichama Karin. I bumped this farther up my PTW queue in order to make sure I watch it before getting to the likes of Nanoha (despite the fact that Nanoha's first two seasons predate it) and Yuyuyu. Anyway, I've heard that it's ridiculously cute and also more serious and complicated than its cuteness would suggest, so here's hoping it's enjoyable enough to be worth 26 episodes of my time.

Stellvia is a decent little show. The character designs were done by the same people behind Love Hina, so it has a very recognizable look. I recall the first episode being very strong, sadly it doesn't remain that strong throughout the show, which has a bit of a weird pattern of story arcs. But it's all generally good enough to be watchable if you aren't looking for something terribly deep or artistic.

Finished watching episodes 2 and 3 of Boarding School Juliet. It's a nice little romantic comedy. I like the main couple and the secondary characters are pretty good too.
