I was surprised to read the light novels and see how mediocre they were. I don't care if the director was a huge Chiho fan and made her look way better than she actually is, he made the anime great.
Since I'm probably not going to read the LNs any time soon, just how bad are they?

They're not terrible, they're just not nearly as funny. Aside from that, Emi is flat out mean sometimes, Chiho serves no purpose whatsoever and the characters behave really stupidly.
Today in "things I never expected to see happen", Dorohedoro is getting an anime
Its gonna be censored to hell unless it airs on AT-X first.
Or if it gets a Netflix deal.
Hayashida was Tsutomu Nihei's assistant, so it wouldn't surprise me if Netflix took interest in this.
Watch SymphogearI have heard good things about this manga so hopefully it gets a full adaptation without too much severely cut & good art/animation.
If Netflix is one option for it to air uncensored then so be it, let it air on Netflix.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."If this somehow ends up being a full adaptation I honestly wouldn't mind if they significantly cut down the final arc
@Arha: Emi has the best reaction faces in the anime too.
I don't like her being into Maou though.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. She isn't. It just looks like she is. That doesn't change for another ten novel or so after the point the anime stops.
Thats what I meant. The novel. Sorry I should have said that. I stopped reading early into it cause it wasn't as fun as the anime. I heard her mom dislikes the idea of said relationship too.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. Her mom is dumb anyway and Emi slaps the shit out of her so I can't see that mattering.
And yeah I stayed with it for awhile but bleh, it wasn't very fun.

Got a question. It is technically a history question, but since it's about Japan's favourite ninja, Hattori Hanzo, I thought someone here would know.
The backstory for Basilisk is that Hattori Hanzo forged a truce between the Koga and Iga ninja clans. A generation later there's this important meeting where the truce gets nullified. There are seven people present at the meeting, and one character says that "Hattori Hanzo was there." Thin is, Hattori Hanzo wasn't there, though his son was. My question is, was Hattori Hanzo a title that got passed down? Was there a Hattori Hanzo II? Or did they just make a mistake in the script?

From wikipedia: "Hanzō is actually a name passed down through the leaders of the Hattori family meaning his father was also called Hanzō and so was his successor. Indeed there are five people known as Hattori Hanzō throughout history"
See, I knew I came to the right place. Thanks.

So like when an anime comes out generally the manga is likely to get localized right?
I’m asking cause the anime of a favorite manga of mine (Kengan Ashura) is coming out next year & so I really hope for the manga to come to the States so I can collect it.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie.""Likely to" get localized. Not guaranteed. And my understanding is that long series are frequently avoided (each volume sells less than the last) and sports series are unpopular in the west
It usually happens
Especially with hits like Danmachi a few years ago; nobody really knew what this was then bam Yen Press localization
Hell, you see how popular series getting fan scanlations is a good gauge on what may come over. Witch Hat Atelier is coming over
And another "wait, what?" anime adaptation: More Fruits Basket!
Nerts! I necroed the Fruits Basket thread thinking the word hasn't spread...
There's a new manga about ... the founders of Apple.
Seriously?
Never knew I wanted a moe version of Steve Jobs
Never cease to amaze me Japan.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Finished watching The Devil is a Part-Timer, I understand now why this earned so much praise because it's very well made and though some of its humor isn't really my thing, the underlying thread of Emi's arc as she finally finds some respite from a war and how slowly all the Ente Isla residents on Earth are drawn to another and make a home with each other or at the very least find something resembling coexistence is very much my thing.
