@Smokie: Holy shit. That anon is a badass motherfucker! I think he might deserve a medal - especially since he's really articulated something I've always thought. People always say anime was better before, but really, the old stuff that sucked just drops off the face of the earth. That combined with Nostalgia Filter, and it's the same shit you get people saying about everything else, whether it's how music was better in the seventies, or television, or film, or whatever.

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.I personally believe that even with Sturgeon's Law applied, 10% from older animes>10% from recent ones.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing. It's called personal taste, Roy. I know you're using the Internet, so it's probably a lost cause already to try and educate you on this one, but there is such a thing. Just because someone likes a show you don't like doesn't mean that they're watching a shitty show because they're an idiot.
Please stop. Reevaluate what you're saying. Try and be a little more mature here. And failing that, stop complaining about it. I'm sick of hearing this shit from people on the Internet.

You should talk more to those in the Nanoha thread....

...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura ChifuyuWell... that was enlightening. I admit that I've only started watching anime frequently around one and a half years ago, so I really know jack shit about the industry.
Japan really does need to grow up.

I find you considering yourself so highly as someone who has capacity to preach on someone highly amusing. I know people have tastes, but when that tastes influence what kind of anime gets produced, I think I get to have some words to say.
As far as I know, the current market is catering to more exclusive (that’s the closest word I can substitute for otaku because honestly, I don’t like using that term) consumer demographics, because they have far more purchasing power, as in they are more willing to buy DVDs and other merchandises. When they demand shows that empathizes on rather shallow reaction and excludes themes that made the anime appealing to wider audiences, I have complaints.
This isn’t to say older works, I’m not even going THAT far, just around beginning of 2000s (yes, hahaha not it’s not that old), are better than the newer ones. Anime is expensive to make so it is only natural to make works that would appeal to whoever has the most purchasing power. However, unlike say, early 1990s, with better technology, making animes* to make, and there’s more room for creativity, venturing, and pursuing of higher quality creation. That is, if this demand of moe doesn’t outspeak everything else.
I recently visited a local bookstore and checked the Light Novel section. There were over two dozens of series and you except few series* , all of them had premises that largely involved harem plot and for the lack of better term, moeness. That’s the point when I started to think that this whole moe fever is getting out of control like, to borrow exaggeration and admittedly demonization, cancer that overtakes other cells in body.
To sum, there’s nothing wrong with moe in itself, but the problem with current anime trend is that it leaves no room for other kinds of series.

Oh look, it's that macro again.
Which anime studio do you think would be good for animating this upcoming video game?

Watch SymphogearI would say a Collab of Studio Pierrot (For fight scenes) and Madhouse (For animation quality and fluidness) would do it pretty damn well. thoughts?
Watch SymphogearCongrats Demongod. Your constant pimping of Asura's Wrath has somehow prevented Hype Backlash and raised my interest in the game from "Not at all" to "Maybe when the price drops."
Keep it up and it might go all the way to "When the price drops."

Nothing can describe the rage I'm feeling right now, as it apparently sold over 10,000 copies.
Considering that the link is to an article that recommends that...
...this does not sound like a particularly good thing. Not that you should base your reaction on a single opinion.

That sounds utterly pathetic, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to bash you or anything. I'm just saying.

Mecha is another thing I find a strange extraneous thing to add repeatedly to multiple storylines of all different types.
But I won't deny it's also given us some awesome shows and giant robots are pretty cool (if not really my thing).
