That “first class” thing on the previous page reminds me:
In The Flintstones episode “The Girls’ Night Out”, Fred becomes a rock star and Wilma and Betty hear that they will be travelling first class, but the transportation turns out to be a bumpy bus. Young me didn’t understand why my mom found this so funny, because I was thinking, “That could be first class in the Stone Age!” She then explained what the transportation should have been (a limo or something) in order to be first class.

Thanks to a misinterpretation of Drifloon's Pearl Pokedex entry, I as a kid thought Drifloon attempted to rip children's hands off. In hindsight, this is really gruesome
"It was the best of times, it was the BLURST of times?"For a long while, I thought that Bill Murray was the Mel Brooks version of the Frankenstein Monster.
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered! There was a period of time where I thought that Super Mario 64 was the 64th Mario game.
Your melody still remains in this room and it ringsI don't know a single person who didn't at one point.

Read Pokemon Ultimate EmeraldWhen I was Tekken 6 on the PSP, I thought because both Eddy and Christie are Brazilian, I assume Christie's surname was Gordo (which is Eddy's surname). I don't know why I thought they were related to each other until I realised they're just friends, so I can't imagine how wrong I am when I found out that Christie's last name was Monteiro.
Crazy stupid in battle. Crazy cupid on a nice date. The animated version of MAD Magazine was on the air when I was still a kid, and I didn’t know how they got away with using so many copyrighted characters.
Only after discovering this wiki did I find out that parodies are protected under fair use.
He/they | Mostly here on my free days
I just found out there was an animated version of MAD Magazine. I knew about Mad TV.
I remember that when I was in San Diego in the summer of 2006, and my dad told me something about a submarine, I said that submarines weren’t real because people can’t talk underwater.
Edit: I just remembered that I was talking about people not being able to talk underwater. I had previously typed that my comment was about breathing.

Feel free to help with the sandbox or edit my troper wallI'm actually not sure how young I was for this one - it could have been as late as sixth or seventh grade when we were learning about US history and I read ahead and took something out of context, could have been earlier, because my dad has always been a US history buff and might have been watching a documentary while I was around. Anyway, point is, I heard or read something about the Nixon White House tapes
being released, and thought they were "released" in the sense you would say that a music album was released - as in you could go down to your local record store and buy them.
Also, I was just thinking about the first time I saw someone with dyed hair and a mohawk in real life - I was on the subway with my mom, someone dressed in the punk rock style with a green mohawk was waiting for a train, and I blurted out something like "Mommy is that a person?!?" embarrassingly loud. I didn't know someone could just go to a hair stylist and have them do that, plus I think this was when the first TMNT cartoon series was airing, so I associated mohawks in unnatural colors with "mutants" thanks to the character Bebop.

- I thought Hermione's name was pronounced "Her-mee-own". I'm pretty sure the scene in the fourth book where she says the correct pronunciation didn't actually resolve this misconception for me and it took watching the movies to realize I was saying it wrong.
- The playfield near my house always has swallows flying around it in summer. I used to think that if I chased them long enough, I could catch one. The closest I ever got was a swallow brushing against my hand once.
- I thought Cinnabon was a fictional place because I only ever heard about it in Animorphs. When I started going to malls on my own, I found out that there was a Cinnabon in the hallway perpendicular to one with a Lego store my parents took me to fairly often.
For a while, I thought Dinobot's name was spelled "Deinobot", in reference to the dinosaur he closely resembles, Deinonychus.
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered! The Failed a Spot Check pothole three posts above reminds me of something.
My grandparents have an open basement with no furnace room, and when I was as young as three years old, I enjoyed watching the flames inside their furnace, after which I would go upstairs and feel the warm air.
My dad’s house, which is where I grew up, has a furnace room that is hidden behind a door, and because of this, I used to think that my house had air vents but no furnace!
When my dad was filming a video of our house for insurance purposes in January 2005, he showed the furnace room, but I didn’t notice because I was too busy pretending to have a conversation with the Christmas tree!
At the beginning of The Little Lulu Show, there is text onscreen that reads “LULU”. When I was a toddler who couldn’t read that text, I assumed that it read “BUMPITTY” because I thought the beginning of the theme song said “Bumpitty bumpitty bumpitty boo.”
This is why I was amused to find out that Bumpety Boo is the title of the English dub of a certain anime.

I discovered the Blarney Stone for the first time when watching Sylvester And Tweety Mysteries, except I somehow misheard it as "Daffy Stone" and kept being disappointed because there was no Daffy Duck cameo in the episode.
