^ Agreed with that, and I also think it's doubtful that this should have been launched in the first place.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffWe have a lot of tropes around this subject already that treat the tropes in a neutral manner. I can't remember the names, but I know we have a couple about cheating.
This "trope" seems to me to be more of a rant. The exact kind of rant that Nice Boys Finish Last is about.
The trope is not about cheating. It's about a girl more readily sleeping with a guy who tries to get laid only vs. a guy who tries to get laid and more. This trait can cause cheating but a girl doesn't have to cheat to exhibit it.
@Tyoria, For the entire days the trope has been up no one has put up a "chicks don't know a good thing when they've got it" rant. If someone does I'll edit it out. Also, since discussion has fallen to ad hominem arguments
@Sackett, What's your personal stake in this trope?
stay goldenI'd rather ask what Madraguda's opinion is.
Me, I was the one to suggest the launched title, beyond that I had no real participation in the discussion. But Midas, if you have several people saying "we have this already" in your YKTTW, those are objections to launching that need to be discussed and resolved to both parties' satisfaction; merely dismissing them as "wrong" or "irrelevant" and launching the trope anyway (whereupon even more users repeat the exact same objection) is bad form on your part, not theirs.
If you're in a hurry to get the trope out of the gate, chances are good something's wrong with your trope.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I'm not trying to attack you. It's just that whether you're aware of it or not, the subtext here is far too glaring to not acknowledge. It's also going to encourage other people. "I'll religiously police the trope so that doesn't happen" isn't a very good argument against "the trope will be a magnet for that kind of ranting." And let me just clarify here — it's not just 500-word rants I'm thinking of, there are very very nasty implications that can be made within the space of only a few words or sentences. It's also — and again, this isn't a personal attack, but please try to consider it from an outsider perspective — not like you come off as an unbiased party here who can be counted on to purge those bad examples. You had to have the bad ones, which constituted the majority of your examples, pointed out to you before you were willing to do anything, and I'm pretty sure you yourself provided several of those in the first place. You'd need someone to police the police here, for a trope most of us are seeing as redundant.
Also, you yourself restored it after it had been cutlisted? Uh...
BTW, this trope's YKTTW was originally previously labelled "Treat 'Em Like Dirt, They Stick Like Mud".
Wow. Given a title like that it's a wonder why everyone called it All Girls Want Bad Boys.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Haha, it was originally titled something about a Whore Equation. Nice.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.^ Ah, I stand corrected; apparently the dirt/mud title was suggested during the discussion.
Speaking of which, I'm analyzing the discussion right now. Let me see what I can dig up... out of 45 comments:
- 15 comments (1/3) were by the OP. Of these 15, four are nothing but "bump" posts.
- One user objected to all the bumping.
- 3 users alleged the YKTTW to be nothing more than a troll post. (This was admittedly early in the discussion.)
- 4 users called it All Girls Want Bad Boys, Nice Guys Finish Last, and/or The Same But More Specific.
- At least five users objected to the article on the grounds of potential Flame Bait. One user suggested the OP post his comments under Just Bugs Me.
If the YKTTW was a SP crowner, that would give it a score of, what, +1 -15 ?
I also see a few users noted that the OP was almost the only one providing any examples, a majority of which stemmed from a single source.
In summary, MidasMint, please review the Three Rules Of Three, you seem to have missed one of them. That's why it got cut.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Yeah, it went from Treat Em Mean To Keep Em Keen to Treat Em Like Dirt They Stick To You Like Mud to Skank Equation then thru a couple of mildly less objectionable changes to where it is now. A bad name still, but not actually offensive, which is a step in the right direction.

Hee.
And a mere five days later, the trope had been launched, cut, re-instated by the original YKTT Wer, cut again and locked.

If the trope has just been launched and the majority of your examples are bad, it doesn't bode well for its future health. It's absolutely begging to turn into a place where "chicks don't know a good thing when they've got it" ranting is considered acceptable. Your attempts to justify it aren't helping. You're just going on about girls cheating on their boyfriends, which actually doesn't tie into the argument you're trying to push, because nothing in there says they don't put out for said boyfriends (who, presumably, pay them a lot of attention? although it's completely possible to be a totally inattentive boyfriend who only calls when he wants to get laid — that you don't seem to consider this possibility at all says a lot) too. The impression sent is that you want to generate sympathy for the poor, aggrieved, "good guy" boyfriend party here as opposed to the "bad boys" she's inevitably banging at parties.
I don't know if you're aware of it yourself, but it does come across that you have a definite agenda here, which isn't particularly favorable. To put it mildly.
