Griffith really won't let Guts be happy... I expected something to happen that would get Guts to fall back into his vengefulness and leave Elfhelm but did not expect Griffith would kidnap Casca at all. Maybe it's because of the influence of the Moonlight Child on Griffith?

I wonder if Griffith wants to kill her to get rid of the influence of the Moonlight Child

Well… if he wanted to kill her, he would have done so on the spot. He probably has other uses for her.

[up]Knowing what he's done to Casca the idea he has a plan for her is a horrifying thought.

Not gonna lie, I'll actually be pretty upset if the people who think Guts will relapse into Murderhobo Mode turn out to be right. Considering he's had twenty real-life years of development since then...

Yeah I don’t think Griffith has anything good planned for Casca.

The art was better this chapter, gotta say.

Well, I don’t think Griffith is planning to do something awful to her − maybe because I don’t imagine Miura wanted to throw her back into the pits of hell the minute she managed to climb out of it.

Otherwise, I’m relieved Guts had enough lucidity and self-control to stop that massive sword swing just in time.

I mean that's Gut's character in a nutshell - struggling not only against fate but his inner turmoil. I don't think he's gonna go full-on Black Swordsman personality again but he was content with Casca having regained her sanity even if he couldn't be near her. But now Griffith is going to take Casca away from him once again

This is probably going to push Guts to gain more power, which won't be good for him mentally and spiritually, through the Berserker Armor

The art is definitely improved in this chapter. This is basically what I expected, as the assistants get more experience with drawing these characters and their surroundings I think the art quality and page layouts will improve noticeably. We just need to give them a little time.

[up][up] Or else he’s gonna get that "getting more power" won’t really get him anywhere against otherwordly beings like the Godhands. Maybe I’m wrong though.

If the Berserker Armor gives him strength comparable to the Skull Knight then it sure as hell could be tempting to Guts. We all know that's a slippery slope but it wouldn't be Berserk without the angst and suffering for characters and readers alike

I've felt for a while that maybe the way to take the Godhand down would be something similar to how the Occuria were dealt with in Final Fantasy XII - they technically survive because overpowering them simply isn't an option, but the heroes eventually find a way to permanently cut their connection to the mortal realm, meaning they can't dick with humans anymore.

Though then again, something certainly got rid of the other four from the previous generation...

Griffith just swooping in and kidnapping Casca does kinda feel cheap as a way to progress the story, but I'm gonna reserve judgement until I see where exactly this is going.

I dont think we've seen enough to be able to judge the new writing yet, but the artwork had pretty much nothing that felt off to me this chapter.

Chapter 368 is out:

Damn Guts's face as Griffith carries Casca away on Zodd is heartbreaking. And they're left to deal with these deadly shadows in the wake of Griffith's arrival

NGL, Casca getting damsel'd AGAIN in a different way is disappointing. I guess we have or hook for the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny now, though.

It was clear that the piece couldnt have lasted forever, still stings seenig everything go to shit again. Wonder if this is already the set up for the final battle, I would very much hope that Casca still has a bigger role to play then just needing to be rescued again.

I do find it interesting, too, that in a series that takes great pains to NOT romanticize the Middle Ages in the slightest, our impetus for (maybe) the final battle is a rescue mission straight out of a chivalric romance.

Not a criticism necessarily, but a curiosity.

[up]If I made a list I think I would increase the odds of Rickert surviving but besides that I pretty much agree with all of the placement.

New chapter is out.

All the magical creatures on the island including Isma and Puck just vanish from the corporeal world. Although I'm sure they'll be back eventually.

Wait I thought Grif's thing was bringing fantasy back, not yeeting it out.
